To the said allehgation hee saith and deposeth that hee hath used the trade<br />
of Virginia for theise sixteene yeeres last past and hath bin severall<br />
times at Virginia upon the imployment of lading of tobaccoes, and thereby<br />
well knoweth the condition and size of casks there used for lading of the<br />
said commodities

and went the first time upon his owne account<br />
to traffique, the second time as sopra cargo as aforesaid, and the last time stweward<br />
of the shipp ''Expedition'', and saith hee liveth in Debtford and soe hath donne<br />
for five or six yeares, and before that in Crooked Lane and other places in London,<br />
and now useth the sea as a sea man, and saith hee is not but very little<br />
in debt, and hath none but small estate having had greate losses at sea. And<br />
furthe hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.
