Mariner, aged 47 or thereabouts, worne as in the<br />
acts of Court and examined upon certaine Interrogatories<br />
ministred on his highneses behalfe saith as followeth.
To teh first article hee saith and deposeth that hee was<br />
present at the taking and seizing the shipp the ''Bon Jesus''<br />
alias the ''Guift'' interrate; which seizure happened off Tolon on<br />
the 27th of July last old stile, at which time this deponent<br />
was belonging to and was Lieutenant of the [?''Tredagh frigot'']<br />
which had command of other two frigats<br />
namely the ''Jersey'' which boarded the said shipp the ''Bon''<br />
''Jesus'', and of the ''Yarmouth'', which at that instant was out<br />
of sight, And saith that upon the approach of the ''Jersey''<br />
''frigot'', all the company of the ''Bon Jesus'' betooke themselves<br />
to their boate at eight leagues (or thereabouts) distance from the<br />
shoare of Cape Tolon, and forsakeing their shipp fledd in<br />
their said boate ashore of this deponents sight and knowledge.
