To the nineth hee saith hee verily beleeve … To the nineth hee saith hee verily beleeveth the said producents (to<br />
whom alone the said Campecha wood belongeth) do run the risgo of the<br />
same, and that noe Spaniard or other subiect of the king of Spaine or<br />
enemie of this Commonwealth hath any interest therein, And<br />
hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition, and further cannot depose.
To the tenth hee saith the said Cornelius [?Suyshens] was and is a<br />
dutchman, native of Amsterdam where this deponent well jnew and<br />
was acquainted with him before his going for the Canaries, which was his going ]?XXX]<br />
about fifteene monethes since, and was and is a subiect of the said<br />
States of the United Netherlands, and lives at the Canaries only as a factor<br />
and Stranger, and for such hee was and is commonly accounted, And<br />
further hee cannot depose saving as aforesaid.
To the last hee saith his foregoing deposition was and is true.
To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first hee saith hee knoweth not that ever the interrogated Cornelius<br />
[?Suyshens] was at the West Indies, nor doth not beleeve that ever hee was<br />
there, And further saving as aforesaid hee cannot answer.
To the second hee saith hee upon his comming to Santa Cruse<br />
saw the shipp the ''Saint John'' (Peter Jansen master) there, and<br />
heard that shee came shortly before from the West Indies<br />
and otherwise hee cannot answer.
To the third hee saith that hee hard that the said shipp the<br />
''Saint John'' in the said West Indies voyage seized an English<br />
shipp, but her name hee heard not nor knoweth and otherwise hee cannot<br />
answer saving negativelt for his part, and as aforesaid.
To he fourth hee saith the said [?Suyshens] had somwhat above<br />
halfe the said Campecha wood out of the said shipp the ''Saint''<br />
''John'', which as hee beleeveth brought the same from the West<br />
Indias, and laded the same then aboard the ''Liesda'', and<br />
the rest hee sent from the shore, where this deponent before<br />
such sending, saw it in a warehouse at Santa Cruse, but<br />
whether that alsoe came out of the ''Saint John'' before such<br />
putting the same into the said warehouse hee knoweth not,<br />
and otherwise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid and<br />
negatively for his part.
To the fifth hee saith hee was not present at the<br />
buying the Campecha wood aforesaid, and otherwise hee<br />
cannot answer.
