In the Dukedom of Holsteyn but in habitant in<br />
Lisbone in Portugall aged 34 years or thereabouts<br />
a Wittnes sworne and examined saith as followeth videlicet
To the first article of the said Nelson hee saith that for about three yeares last<br />
past hee this deponent hath constantly heard and observed amongst Merchants<br />
and factors at Lisbone that the arlate Manoel and ffrancis derricikson<br />
were and are Merchants living at Hamburgh and driving a trade to and<br />
holding a Correspondence at Lisbone in the way of Commerce and marchant-<br />
dizing for all that time and that they had and have then factors and correspon-<br />
dance there: And further hee cannot depose saving his subsequent deponents<br />
to which he referreth.
To the Second he saith, That hee this deponent: being very intimate and<br />
familiarly acquainted and conversant with one Manoel Rodriquez Isidro<br />
a merchant and factor inhabitant at Lisbone in Portugall, as also a<br />
witness: Visente de Basto his this deponents precontest, hath by meanes of such his<br />
acquaintance observed, That the said Manoel Rodriquez Isidro on or<br />
about the moneths of June or July in the yeare 1654: Last past did<br />
at or neere Lisbone in Portugall Lade or cause to bee laden foure chests<br />
of sugar of the first marke in the margent in and aboard the shipp the<br />
''Nightingale'' arlate (Henry Glassam then Master) to bee transported to<br />
Roame in ffrance, and there to bee delivered for the accompt of the Said Manoel<br />
and francis derrickson to one Antronio Rodriquez de Morash their ~ ~<br />
Aqent or Correspondent there, and soe much the said Manoel Rodriquez<br />
Isidro did communicate to this deponent; both before and after the lading<br />
of the said goods, and particularly this deponent saw and perused the said Manoel Rodriquez<br />
Isidro bookes of accompts where in the Said goods were entered for the said<br />
accompt and marked at aforesaid, Hee further saith that by meanes of<br />
his intimate and familiar Correspondence with the said Visente de Basto<br />
his precontests, hee well knoweth that the said Vincent de Basto as ffactor to<br />
the said producents and for their accompt did at or about the time aforesaid<br />
lade or cause to bee laden aboard the said shipp to be transported and delivered<br />
as aforesaid the goods and merchandizes ensueing and marked with the<br />
