The personall answers of John<br />
davy made to the pretensed<br />
positions and articles of a certaine<br />
allegation given against him on the<br />
behalfe of Nicholas Gold, and others<br />
as followeth./
To the first pretensed position he answereth<br />
that savinge his answers followeinge he doth<br />
not beleeve the said perused position to bee<br />
true in any parte savinge this respondent<br />
beleeveth that he this rendent haveinge<br />
intelligence, and information from some<br />
freind of his at Exeter that there was some<br />
hazard and danger in sendinge of goods<br />
to Saint Maloes in his owne name beinge<br />
an Englishman in regard there had beene<br />
severall arrests made of Englishmens goods<br />
by ffrench men for satisfaction of pretended<br />
iniuries dine unto them by the English he<br />
this respondent did defactor by the advice<br />
aforesaid after the ladeinge of this<br />
respondents goods in this cause controverted<br />
and after he had entred the same in the<br />
Custome house att Exeter for his owne<br />
accompt write a letter unto one Mr<br />
