The claime of the saud Bow[?se] and}
others in the Liefde.}

Examined upon the foresaid allegation.

George Croock Secretary of his his highnesse
the Lord Embassador of holland, aged 25 yeares
or thereabouts sworne and examined.

To the first and second articles of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth
that hee well knoweth the producent Mat[?urin] P[?e]llicot and hath soe
donne for theise five yeares last or thereabouts, and saith hee is an
Inhabitant of Amsterdam and soe hath bin for all the said time of this
deponents knowledge of him, dwelling there in the [?Xingle]. and
a burgher of that citie, and there maried to the daughter of Charles
Van P[?XXX] of the same merchant, and for all the said time the said
[?Maturin] hath bin and is a merchant of good fashion and dealing and
a subiect of the lords the States of the United Netherlands, and for such
as aforesaid hee hath bin for all the said time and is commonly accompted
and reputed, which hee knoweth being alsoe a native of Amsterdam
where this deponent was well acquainted with him. And having
seene severall attestations from Amsterdam touching the said
[?Maturin] and others. [?XXXXXXX] in this Court hee saith that the
same are mmost of them sealed with the seale of Amsterdan and subscribed by the
SEcretary of the same, whose subscription hee well knoweth, and
that others of them are under the seale of leyden, and hee well
knoweth as hee saith that the magistrates of those places doe not
grannt or give out such attestion without due knowledge first
by them had of the truth of the matters certified, and saith the
same use to passe not only in Holland, but in Italy, Spaine
ffrance and Germany and other places for full proofe of the matters
therein contained. And otherwise hee cannot depose, saving that the said
Embassador of Holland hath severall letters from the States touching
the truth of the matters contained in the said certificates.

To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee saith hee was borne at Amsterdam and hath dwelt
alwaies in holland saving what hee hath bin in travailing and some
[?tXX] yeares that hee hath bin in England.

To the second hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition, and cannot
otherwise depose.

To the rest hee saith hee cannot depose, not being in the voyage
nor knowing ought thereof, nor any other of the parties arlate.
