Transcription and others of the shipps crewe keeping theand others of the shipps crewe keeping them company in their debaucherie<br /> this deponent heard some of them that retourned say that such their<br /> extravagancie was through the allurement and persuasion of the said ffrisbie<br /> and Archer, And saith that the said ffrisby and Archer with five<br /> others of the ships company haveing run farr on the score at a badd house in<br /> Ligorne, the master of the house who was a souldier got his fellow souldiers<br /> to take them into custodie and detaine them for his pay, whereof the said<br /> Captaine Hunt making complaint to the English Consul, and hee<br /> threatning the said houskeeper, hee set them at libertie, and forthwith<br /> three of them came aboard, but the said ffrisby and Archer and two<br /> others staid finally ashore, albeit then they came to the waterside with<br /> the three that came aboard, and might aswell have come aboard<br /> and they in the shipps boate which was ashore, but they refused, and<br /> so deserted the said shipp and her service to her greate preiudice, and<br /> putting her in danger by manner of enemies dutch and ffrench that<br /> were in hand, and being so deprived of his Carpenter, the said Captaine<br /> Hunt was necessitated to hire and did hire another in his stead, and<br /> offered the Kings pay to other mariners then to come aboard and serve in the<br /> said homewards voyage, but could get none, which offer the said ffrisby and<br /> Archer were aware of, and yet they deserted her as aforesaid, Et alr nescit. Ad Interrria [CENTRE HEADING] Ad primum rendet that hee liveth cheifely by maintenance from his<br /> father who is deputie Vice Admirall of the West, and upon his<br /> father, howbeit hee hath 15 ''li'' of his owne, and is of noe relation<br /> or kinne to the said [?XXXX] having bin cleared off the shipp theise<br /> three monthes. Ad 2 rendet that the said ffrisby and Archer did not behave themselves<br /> and performe their duties as they ought, referring himselfe to his forgoing<br /> deposition, besides the said Archer using to prate to others when the shipp<br /> hath bin in delivering and thereby both neglecting his owne dutie and<br /> hindering others, and being reprehended therefore by the Masters mate,<br /> said, hold your peace you old rogue or I will knock your brains out,<br /> or words to the same effect, and saith hee saw most of the foresaid moneys<br /> paid to them.
