Ad primum arlum deponit et dicit that hee hath well knowne the producents<br />
Caleb Veren and Robert Walker for these foure yeares last past or<br />
thereabouts and knoweth them to have bin and to bee wood merchants<br />
and to have bin and to bee very great traders to Norway from<br />
this port of London, English men, and subiecTs of his Majesty of<br />
England and soe commonly accounted. And saith that before the<br />
beginning of the warr arlate betweene the Kings of England and<br />
Denmarke arlate the said shipp ''Norway Merchant'' did use to bring<br />
deales and Timber for the said producents account being imployed and<br />
sett forth by the arlate Isaack Lawson living at Brewick in Longsound<br />
well knowne to this deponent the then and now owner of her with goods<br />

Ad 2. 3. et 4 arlos deponit et decit that about the Middle of November 1666<br />
arlate this deponent saw the Duke of Yorkes passe in the hands of the said<br />
Lawson or the arlate Christopher MoreAsen Master of the said shipp ''Norway Merchant''<br />
for the said shipp to trade from Norway to London, which passe was<br />
as hee hath credibly heard and beleeveth brought by and delivered<br />
to the said Lawson by the arlate Bartell Berrison Master of a shipp the ''Angell''<br />
''Gabriel'' who had a passe also to trade from Norway hither to this port<br />
of London. El alr nescit.
Ad 5 et 6 arlos deponit et dicit that the winter being far spent after<br />
the said Lawsons receipt of the said Passe hee did make provision for<br />
her voyage against the Spring following. And about the month of<br />
Aprill 1667 the said Lawson imployed the foresaid Morelson to acalke<br />
the said shipp, and gave him a caution, (as was generally said) not to<br />
heat his pitch aboard for feare of danger, But the said Marelson did<br />
contrary to the said order heat his pitch aboard the said shipp whereby<br />
she was fired and soe damnifyed thereby that she was not repaired<br />
or fitted out until August last past, and presently after the said firein<br />
hee the said Lawson put out or displaced the said Morelson and put in Hance Symn[?son] (her<br />
present master) master of her, adding as a reason for it in this deponents hearing<br />
