Transcription and documents, hee hath seene and understoand documents, hee hath seene and understood that the said vessell<br /> was in her two voyages next proceeding the present<br /> in the service and imployment of the said Arnold and Elias Beake<br /> the first from Bourdeaux<br /> to London with wines for their accompt, and from London shee retourned<br /> for Bourdeaux, and thence caried wines for the<br /> accompt of the said Arnold and Elias<br /> or for them in company with the said Samuel to dublin in Ireland, which two voyages were within a twelve moneth<br /> last as hee remembreth the time, and from dublin retourniing to<br /> Bourdeaux shee was comming from Bourdeaux the voyage in question wherein shee<br /> was soe sezied. Et alr nescit. Ad 13 deponit that as hee hath heard and beleeveth the said master and<br /> some of his company have upon the pretences arlate bin arrested<br /> and imprisoned at Chichesea by the meanes and contrivement of the<br /> Captaine or his imployers to the end to defeat the claimers of their<br /> testimony. Ad primum rendet that hee very well knoweth that the said Arnold<br /> Beake gave order by severall letters for freighting of a ship and<br /> lading of brandy, vinegar and wines by the said Samuel for their account<br /> this deponent having perused the booke of copies of letters to that purpose<br /> and wherein the same appeareth, namely by a letter of 18 of June<br /> 1666, wherein it is said in dutch to this effect in English, videlicet, if the<br /> hired ship is not come, upon receipt hereof freight another ship of about<br /> 60 tonns, to wit, [?XXX] shipp loade therein for my account 10 tonns<br /> of clarret and the rest of the lading of very good muskt white wine<br /> let this be don with what expedition you can, and send them<br /> hether, you can put in 5 or 10 tonns of good vinegar according<br /> as is [?XXX] full [?XXX] et cetera And saith that the<br /> hired shipp aforesaid, was a shipp hired in fflanders by one Mr<br /> [?Castire] by the said Arnolds order, which letting oportunitie slip<br /> and not commeing away in time, and being retarded from speadie<br /> going that voyage, the said producent put her by. And hee wrote<br /> other letters to the said Samuel about the said freighting and lading,<br /> namely 25 of June, 2 July, 5 July, 19 July and<br /> 2 of August 1666, abstracts of which heesa ith wilbe produced for<br /> the further satisfaction of this Court.
