Ad primum secundum et 3:th arles deponit that the producent Arnold<br />
Beake is his father (with whom hee hath lived for the most part of<br />
his time) and Elias Beake his unckle, who for all the time<br />
of his remembrance have bin merchants of and dwellers in London<br />
(where they at present inhabit) and subiects of his Majestie and such<br />
as have and doe drive a trade of merchandize betwixt<br />
England and ffrance upon their owne accompt for wine, brandy and<br />
vinager, and have yearly good quantities thereof sent them to London<br />
from ffrance for the proper account of them the said Arnold and Elias<br />
Beake who were and are partners in that trade and busines. And<br />
saith that the arlate Samuel Beake is his this deponents brother<br />
(sonne alsoe of the said Arnold) and a native of London and for the time<br />
arlate hath bin and is the factor of the said Arnold and Elias at<br />
Bourdeaux, and for such commonly accompted, and bought and<br />
provided by their order and for their accompt severall greate quantities<br />
of wine and brandy, and shipped the same off for them for London<br />
and particularely (as by letters and documents from him) in or about<br />
the moneth of July 1666 hee laded and caused at Bordeaux to bee<br />
laded and put aboard the shipp ''ffortune'' of dantzicke arlate twenty<br />
peeces of brandy marked with the first mark in the margin

and sixtie two tonns and one hogshead of wine and three tonns and<br />
three hogsheads of vinegar of the second marke in the margin, all

said producents Counting house and is acquainted with these transactions<br />

the said schedule to be one of three bills of lading of one tenor signed by the said [?XXX] for<br />
