To the first articles of the said Allegation hee saith hee hath knowne<br />
the arlate John Casby for about fourteene yeeres last during<br />
all which space the said Casby hath bin a Merchant of great dealing<br />
and quality, and in the moneth of July 1658. and ever since, and<br />
for many moneth before the said Casby hath and doth trade<br />
from hence to the Canary Islands and from thence to this port of<br />
London for wines and other goods: and doth send many Goods<br />
and Merchandizes from hence on ?their ?owne account to the Canaryes and doth receive many pipes<br />
of wines yeerely from the Canaryes on his owne account and this Deponent verily<br />
beleeveth hee hath a ffactor at the said Islands: The premisses hee deposeth<br />
being the said producents packer, and hathe as hee beleeveth packed goods at severall times for<br />
the said producent to the vallue of above twenty Thousand pounds And further<br />

doe, (and have done since the warre betwixt England and Spaine)<br />
trade at the Canaryes under fained and fictitious Dutch names<br />
the better to Colour their goods, and preserved them from Spanish<br />
Capture./.
To the 4th hee saith that in January & March, 1657: there were laden on<br />
board the arlate ship the ''Susan ffrigot'', whereof Abraham Philliter<br />
was Master sixty one bales, and truncks of Severall goods and<br />
Merchandizes which were all for the account of the said Mr Casby<br />
and Company and of this deponents knowledge there were three<br />
bales or Truncks Laden aboard the said ship at the same time, for the said<br />
Mr Casbyes sole account, all which were to be Carried and Transported<br />
in the said ship from hence to the Canaryes And saith hee beleeveth<br />
that the said 3 bales or Trunckes, and the part and share which the<br />
said Mr Casby had in the said sixty one Bales about foure or five Thousand<br />
Pounds, the said [?Trade] being most XX them XXX XXXX<br />
