unto him the said Policarpio de Oliveira, importing and<br />
ordering, That he the said Policarpio should upon the receipt<br />
of teh said fish sell or dispose of the same, and should in and<br />
with the said shipp returne a lading of sugars, shumack and<br />
Tobaccoes to Roan in france, and to consigne the same to<br />
Antonio Rodrigues Morais and Jeronimo and Raphael Rodrigues<br />
Lemego Merchants there for the use and accompt of him the<br />
said fernandes or to that effect. All which this deponent well<br />
remembreth and knoweth, for that he this deponent in the quality<br />
aforesaid did by the said fernandez his order and in his name<br />
write and send away Letters to that purpose to dartmouth to be<br />
in the said shipp conveyed and delivered unto the said Policarpio<br />
to the effect predeposed. And further to this article hee saieth<br />
hee cannot depose
To the fowerth and 5th Articles of the said Allegation hee saieth, That hee<br />
well knoweth, That the said Antonio Rodrigues de Morais<br />
and Jeronimo and Raphael Rodrigues Lamego were and at<br />
this present continue factors Agents and Correspondents to and<br />
of teh said Antonio fernandez Caravajal, and that in the<br />
yeares 1655. 1656. and 1657. arlate the said Anthonio<br />
Rodrigues de Morais, and Jeronimo and Raphael Rodrigues<br />
Lamego were and at this present are indebted and engaged<br />
unto him the said fernandez in the summe or value of<br />
3000: ''l'' sterling at the least, as this deponent in and during his<br />
constant residence with and relation to the said Antonio<br />
fernendez, and particularly in the yeares aforesaid, hath seene<br />
and well observed in and by the said fernandez his bookes<br />
of accompts and by writing in his journalls and Copie booke<br />
of Letters of his negotiation, and observing severall Cargaisons<br />
or parts of Cargaisons by him the said Carvajall provided and<br />
sent from hence upon their accompt, and also by seeing and<br />
observing that severall bills of exchange for considerable summes<br />
of money have beene and still continue to be drawne by the<br />
said parties upon the said ffernandez, who hath of this deponents<br />
sight and knowledge payd or caused the same to be satisfyed<br />
and payed for them [?and] on their behalf And this deponent further saieth, That by his<br />
