Pinke and Potash and the Spanish men of warr aforesayd All this hee deposeth of his<br />
owne sight and knowledge standing on shoare and seeing the premisses soe acted<br />
and done on the sixth of June last And further hee cannot depose, not seeing<br />
what was done by the sayd Cardis and Company and the sayd Spanish men of<br />
warr on the sayd fifth day./
To the 4th article hee saith that the sayd shipp ''Eastland Merchant'' was at the tyme<br />
of such her seizure, (of this deponents knowledge) a tight strong shipp of the burthen<br />
of two hundred and fifty tonnes and had then twenty gunnes and was well<br />
provided with all sort of provisions and necessaries fitt for a voyage And the<br />
sayd shipp ''Eastland Merchant'' and her tackle and furniture gunnes and provisions<br />
aboard her at such her seizure were in this deponents Judgment and estimate<br />
well worth three thousand ánd five hundred pounds stereling money, And alsoe<br />
for that hee as Mate helped to stowe the goods hereafter specified and tooke a noate in writing of them hee as they came aboard hee knoweth shee<br />
had on board her at such her seizure three thousand three hundred sixty seaven<br />
hydes of severall sorts and one hundred fifty and seaven sacks of flaxe<br />
and eighty chests of Incense, and two bales of broad Cloth, and tenn<br />
bales of linnen Cloath and Cammells haire, and twenty one sacks of<br />
Cotton yarene, and one sack of Sena, and twenty piggs of Lead but all which<br />
Merchandizes were worth very considerable summes of money but what<br />
in particular to estimate them at hee knoweth not All which hee well knoweth<br />
were lost to the Owners of them by reason of the sayd seizure And further to<br />
this article hee cannot depose./
To the 5th article hee saith hee well knoweth that the arlate Captaine Paine<br />
had on board the sayd shipp at such her seizrue plate Apparrell and Instruments<br />
to a very considerable value, and alsoe ready mony servants Cloathes and Adven=<br />
tures for him selfe and servants to a considerable value, but what to value them at<br />
hee knoweth not And further to this article hee cannot depose./
To the 6th article and the schedule therein mentioned hee saith that the sayd<br />
schedule in his this deponents owne handwriteing hee being the sayd same Lewes<br />
Cox therein mentioned and saith the same doth conteyne a true list of the names<br />
of all the severall Mariners that were in and belonged to the sayd ship ''Eastland''<br />
''Merchant'' at her seizre And hee this deponent well knoweth and can by particulars make it appeare that hee for his<br />
part lost in bookes Instruments goods and Cloathes by reason of the sayd seizure<br />
the summe of eighty nyne pounds tenn shillings sterling, and beleeveth that the<br />
rest of the persons named in the sayd schedule have susteyned losse by the sayd<br />
seizure to the severall values in the sayd scheule specified And further<br />
to this article hee cannot depose./
To the last hee saith his foregoeing deposition is true And further hee<br />
cannot depose./
