Transcription 1653. 1654 and 1655 and for some time befo1653. 1654 and 1655 and for some time befoe the said Gerrard lloyd<br /> and company had a very greate trade at Sevill in Spaine and did there keepe<br /> a house and familie, and had at Sevill and other parts in Spaine very greate<br /> commerce and traffique by way of Merchandize, which hee knoweth for that<br /> hee this deponent lived at Sevill aforesaid in the<br /> same house where they kept their factory and managed their said trade,<br /> and soe came to take notice thereof. To the second Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth that at the time of<br /> the difference breaking forth betweene England and Spaine in the yeere<br /> 1655, the said Gerrard Lloyd and company had severall debts owing them<br /> by severall persons residing in Spaine, and alsoe several goods and<br /> merchandizes, and other effects in Sevill, Saint Lucar,<br /> Cadiz and other parts of Spaine, and household stuff at Sevill aforesaid,<br /> all amounting in his estimation to the summe or valew of seaven<br /> thousand and nine hundred pounds, which hee deposeth having bin<br /> privie to their merchandizing transactions. To the third hee deposeth that the said Gerrard Lloyd and company<br /> lately in this present yeere 1656 sent severall goods and merchandizes<br /> from this port of London to Cadiz in Spaine in the shipp called the<br /> ''ffortune'' of hambrough and shipp called the ''Hare in the ffeild''<br /> , which hee knoweth being in the said two shipps, and alsoe their<br /> foresaid goods, merchandizes and houshold stuff, debts and effects were seized or detained<br /> by the officers and subiects of the king of Spaine and with held from the<br /> said Lloyd and company who are quiet (sic) deprived thereof, and thereof therein<br /> have suffered losse and dammage in this deponents estimation to the summe<br /> and valew of nine thousand and six hundred pounds sterling; And<br /> saith hee this deponentw as in Spaine when the said two shipps and<br /> goods therein were seized and sawe them under the said seizre, and<br /> the said lloyd and companies goods merchandizes and effects ashore, were<br /> [XXXXXXXX] seized or detained when theire was a seizure or detention of all English mens goods there Repeated before doctor Godolphin.
