brought to this port of London in the said shipp ''Saint Jacob'' and consigned<br />
to Lucas Lucy, Gerrard van [?heytchusen] and david [?ffeth[?XX] arlate<br />
were saved out of a shipp (whereof John ffox was commannder) that<br />
was cast away att lieba shortly before the putting the same aboard<br />
the ''Saint Jacob'': which linnens being soe cast away were recovered<br />
againe out of the sea, and some endeavour used to drie them at<br />
the house in lieba where this deponent lay, but hee beleeveth<br />
they were not fully dried when they were put into a boate<br />
to be carried aboard the ''Saint Jacob'', besides hee saith that itreceived<br />
when they were carrying aboard the ''Saint Jacob'' (which carrying was in<br />
an open boate) by which meanes aforesaid, hee saith they could not<br />
but be wett and in ill condition at their lading, and<br />
hee verily beleeveth that whatsoever dammadge happened in the said<br />
goods when they came to be delivered, was occcasioned by the<br />
said casting away in Captaine ffozes shipp, and their lading aboaard<br />
the ''Saint Jacob'' in wet weather and the storme and fowle weather<br />
wherewith the said shipp as aforesaid met in her course for London.<br />
And saith hee this deponent was acquainted with the lading the<br />
said linnens at dantzike aboard Captaine ffoxes shipp, and<br />
thereby came to take the more notice of them after the said disaster<br />
at Lieba. And otherwise hee cannot depose, saving the ''Saint Jacob''<br />
was a very strong staunch and sufficient shipp

To the first negatively, referring himselfe to his foregoeing deposition.
To the second hee beleeveth the said linnens had bin roasted and<br />
dried aswell as they could be in the space betweene their<br />
recoverie out of the sea after their casting away in the said ffoxes<br />
shipp and their lading aboard the said shipp ''Saint Jacob''. And<br />
otherwise hee cannot depose
To the 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. hee saith that the said linnens were<br />
stowed in and about the midd shipp and very carefully stowed as<br />
appeared to this deponent when hee came aboard heer at Lieba to<br />
come for London; And otherwise saving as aforesaid hee cannot<br />
depose./
