Transcription as a shipp under sequestration and observeas a shipp under sequestration and observed that the sayd Captaine Trevire<br /> and his company were then out of possession of her, and had bin turned out of<br /> possession of her as this deponent hath heard for a longe tyme before that, And saith that hee well knoweth<br /> and observed that the sayd shipp the ''Chapman'' continued in the possession of the sayd<br /> King of Portugall all the whole Summer tyme 1651 and was sent out<br /> upon the sayd Kings imployment and service from Lisbone, but how longe shee<br /> continued in his Kings service after hee this deponent soe sawe her at Lisbone<br /> otherwise then before hee hath deposed hee cannot depose And further to this<br /> article hee cannot depose for that hee was not at the Mederas nor sawe the first<br /> seizure of her which hee hath heard was made in the Maderas in the yeare 1650/ To the 3 hee saith that hee this deponent seeing the sayd shipp at Lisbone<br /> the tyme aforesayd, did observe that shee was a shipp of the burthen of<br /> three hundred tonnes or thereabouts and had then about twenty peece of<br /> ordnance Annd saith that in his this deponents Judgment and estimate<br /> a shipp of such burthen (sufficiently victualed for thirty sixe men as<br /> is arlate and provided with all other necessaries of Ammunition and<br /> provision), might be well worth (besides Mariners wages) one<br /> hundred and tenn pounds sterling per moneth, And further to this article<br /> hee cannot depose for that hee was not present at her seizure<br /> in the Mederas nor knoweth how shee was then provided either with<br /> victualls men or ammunition./ To the rest hee is not examined by order of the producent./ Repeated before doctor Godolphin Tho Rwen [SIGNATURE, RH SIDE] ********************** The same day [CENTRE HEADING] Examined upon the sayd allegation '''2us''' '''John Wilkey''' of Ratcliff in the parish of Stepney<br /> and County of Middlesex Mariner aged 45 yeares or<br /> thereabouts a wittnes sworne and examined saith and<br /> deposeth as followeth videlicet.
