Transcription constantly about three score hyred men (beconstantly about three score hyred men (beside his owne company and other<br /> freinds who laboured gratis thereabout) labouring at he two pumps and bayleing<br /> and whipping up water to keepe her froms sinkeing and to endeavour the getting her<br /> on shoare) Abd this deponent verily beleeveth and is perswaded in his<br /> conscience that it could not cost the Master of the ''Imployment'' lesse nor did<br /> cost him lesse then five pounds sterling a tyde for every of the sayd five<br /> tydes to thise labourers soe hyred And further to these articles hee<br /> cannot depose./ To the 13th hee saith that the shipp ''Imployment'' is of the burthen of<br /> thre ehundred tonnes or thereabouts, and for that hee hath belonged to her<br /> for these 6 or 9 moneths last past hee well knoweth that before her setting<br /> or falling upon the Anchor of the ''James and Martin'' shee was a stronge tight<br /> shipp And hee saith that having happened that disaster shee was alsoe<br /> by her hawling a shoare to have the same leake mended (shee having<br /> a greatest part of her ladeing aboard her and much water in her which<br /> made her very heavie) unavoidably much strayned and weakened<br /> and much of her tymeber worke broken, soe that in this deponents Judgment<br /> and estimate it wil cost her owners at the least twenty pounds sterling<br /> to make her in soe good condition as shee was before shee receaved<br /> the damage aforesayd by sitting on sayd Anchor of the ''James and Martin''<br /> And further hee cannot depose saving hee saith if the ''Imployment''<br /> had not bin a stronge shipp her dammage would have bin farr greater<br /> then it is, and that if shee had sunke in the middst of the river (shee<br /> having the greatest part of her ladeing on board) the weighing of her<br /> up would have bin very chargeable/ To the 14th hee saith that hee was present when the Master of the ''Imploy''<br /> ''ment'' did agree with certaine labourers to give them twenty shillings<br /> to digg and make way for Carpenters to stopp the leake in her bilge<br /> caused by the Anchor aforesayd, and beleeveth hee payd them soe much, And<br /> what hee paid to the Carpenter for stopping the sayd leake hee knoweth<br /> not And further hee cannot depose/ To the 15th hee saith when the damage predeposed of happened to the ''Imploy''<br /> ''ment'', shee had the greatest part of her ladeing on board wheich consisted<br /> of Coles, And saith before the dammmage aforesayd happened hee heard<br /> the Master of the ''Imployment'' say that hee had sold the Coales aboard<br /> for twenty three pounds tenn shillings a score, and had hyred labourers<br /> to unlade her, And saith that after the dammage aforesayd happened<br /> the sayd labourers (although they wrought the day before upon deliverie<br /> of some of the Coales aboard) refused (of this deponents knowledge)<br /> to worke any longer upon them at the rate the Master agreed with them for,<br /> and told him in this deponents presence that they would not worke upon them at<br /> theuld not worke upon them at<br /> the  +
