iust come out of his canbbin upon the deck of the ''Successe'' as her master<br />
called out to them of the said other vessell to beare up. And otherwise<br />
hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition.
To the second hee saith hee knoweth not the interrogated Cable, nor did<br />
hee knowe the said other vessell before such her running upon and sinking<br />
the ''Successe'' as aforesaid. And otherwise hee cannot depose, saving<br />
his foregoeing depositin to which hee referreth himselfe.
To the third hee saith the said Well is about tenn English miles over<br />
and all shipps sailing from London to Newcastle use to passe over<br />
thatplace, And saith that the night wherein the said mishapp happened<br />
in the morning was darke, and when the said blowe happened, it<br />
was not very darke nor very light, but betwixt both. And<br />
otherwise saving as aforesaid hee cannot depose.
To the 4 and 5th hee saith that this deponent and others of the<br />
''Successes'' company having soe seene the Angell on the head and<br />
the dove on the sterne of the said shipp that did them the<br />
foresaid mischeife, they often forthwith after the said mishance<br />
talked and spake amongest themselves and tooke notice one to<br />
another that the said vessell had soe the Angell on her head<br />
and the dove on her sterne, longe before they came to<br />
Newcastle where they sawe her againe lying to mend<br />
her bowe as aforesaid. And otherwise hee cannot depose saving<br />
as aforesaid, and saving that all the ''Successes'' company soe tooke<br />
notice and spake of the said markes of the said vessell.
To the 6th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition,<br />
And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the 7th negatively for his part, and otherwise hee cannot<br />
answer saving as aforesaid.
To the 8th hee saith hee can neither write nor reade, but<br />
yet can keep accompt of times, by a sort of Cyphering which<br />
hee hath learnt for his owne use, and thereby remembreth<br />
the time aforesaid. And otherwise hee cannot answer saving as<br />
aforesaid.
