Transcription The 23th of January 1655. [CENTRE HEADING]The 23th of January 1655. [CENTRE HEADING] Examined upon the foresaid Libell. '''Rp. 3.''' '''John Cliff''' of Tower hill London Mariner, aged 53 yeeres or<br /> thereaboutes sworne and examined. To the fifth article hee saith and deposeth that in or about the moneth<br /> of September 1654 the shipp the ''Edward'' allegate departed and set saile<br /> from this port of London for ffiall, and there safelie arived on or about<br /> the third day of October 1654 old stile, and there abode and remained<br /> in delivering out and taking in the goods and merchandizes of the<br /> arlate Samuel Andrewes, and that the last of the said goods were<br /> not delivered into the said shipp at ffiall by the factors or agents of<br /> him the said Andrewes untill the twenty seventh of November<br /> then next following or neere thereabouts, which hee knoweth being<br /> Quarter master of the said shipp and going all the said voyage in her<br /> and saith that all the time of the said shipps abode at ffiall was<br /> spent in unlading and relading the said mr Andrewes his goods,<br /> and otherwise referring himselfe to the Charter partie arlate hee<br /> cannot depose, saveing that the said stay of the said shipp at ffiall in<br /> delivering out and takeing in the said mr Andrewes his goods<br /> was five and thirtie dayes or thereaboutes. To the sixth article hee saith and deposeth that during such time as<br /> the said shipp as aforesaid remained at ffiall, the said mr Andrewes his<br /> factor laded on board her 125 tonnes of wines and noe more,<br /> at two ffiall caskes to the tonne, and saith the master of the said<br /> shipp (Roger Young) diverse and sundrie times and pressed and importuned<br /> the said factor to lade more wines, and told him that the said shipp wuld<br /> and might take in twentie six tonnes of wine and a halfe more than<br /> the said 125 tonnes, over and besides<br /> the shipps tackle, apparell furniture and provisions, and farther saith<br /> shee could indeide and might have donne, in case the said factor had<br /> furnished the same, but the said factor did not furnish or offer any<br /> more to be laden or say that hee had any more (than this deponent heard<br /> of) which hee knoweth being present and taking notice of the premisses.<br /> And otherwise cannot depose, To the seaventh hee saith that after such time as the said shipp<br /> was dischardged at ffiall as aforesaid, the master and company<br /> sailed her to Boston in New England and there safely arived with<br /> her, and after such arivall all the said wines soe taken in at<br /> ffiall for mr Andrewes accompt were delivered out to his factor at Bostonwere delivered out to his factor at Boston  +
