this deponent seeing him take money out of the ''Madea'' and carry aboard the<br />
said other shipp to pay for the same, and this deponent heard the sauid Severington<br />
say that the said but of oile was bought and laden for the proper accompt of<br />
himselfe and his pilot or stiersman, but what share or proprortion of the said oile was belonging<br />
to one or other of the said persons hee knoweth not, but beleeveth the said<br />
pack of leather was belonging to the master and six chests of the said sope<br />
this deponent having heard him affirme soe at the time of the lading, and<br />
that the foresaid goods were belonging t them hee well knoweth being<br />
suprcargo of the said shipp and acquainted with the said lading by the<br />
said persons, and seeing them carry money ashore to pay for the same, and<br />
saith the said goods were to be transported in the said shipp to haver de Grace<br />
for the accompt aforesaid, and were aboard a the time of the said seizure<br />
by the ''Preston frigot''. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the second hee saith that the said producents were and are the reall<br />
owners of the goods predeposed, and commonly accompted to be subiects of<br />
the Lords the States of the United Netherlands. And otherwise hee cannot<br />
depose saving as aforesaid.

sworne and examined.
To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that in or about<br />
the moneth of May last past there were laden aboard the said shipp the ''Medea''<br />
at Marsaille by Eelman Severinson her master for his owne accompt<br />
six chests of sope, and a pack of leather, and by the stiersman for his<br />
owne accompt many chests of sope amounting to above twenty chests, and<br />
that the Chirurgeon laded two or three chests for his owne accompt, and<br />
that the Cooke and other common men laded (as hee was informed) two or three<br />
chests of sope for their accompt, and saith the master and stiersman a little<br />
before their departure having some remainder of money laid it out upon<br />
a but of oile which they laded for their ioint accompt, and that when the<br />
shipp was in her course at sea for haver de Grace, meeting a shipp<br />
bound from Maiorca for Amsterdam, the master of the ''Madea'' bought foure<br />
and twenty coverlets of the master of the said shipp and laded them aboard<br />
the ''Madea'' for his accompt aforesaid, and were aboard at the time of the<br />
seizure by the ''Portsea frigot'', which hee knoweth being one of the<br />
company of the ''Madea'', (but none of the claimers) and seeing the<br />
premisses soe donne. And otherwise her cannot depose not knowing the<br />
marks of the said goods.
To the second hee saith hee sawe the said producents make severall payments<br />
for severall of the said goods, and saith they are owners of the goods predeposed<br />
and were and are commonly accompted subiects of the Lords the States of the<br />
United Netherlands. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
