Transcription was true Owner of them the tyme arlate andwas true Owner of them the tyme arlate and knoweth hee was soe commonly reputed And alsoe beleeveth the arlate Richard Baker<br /> the tyme arlate was Owner of twenty butts of spanish wine and the arlate<br /> George Clarke of fifty butts of oyle which wines and oyle hee saith of this<br /> deponents knowledge were consigned to them and they were commonly<br /> reputed the true Owners of the sayd wine and oyle And further to this article<br /> hee cannot depos/ To the 2 article of the sayd libell hee saith that hee being Masters Mate<br /> as aforesayd well knoweth that in the Moneth of May last the<br /> ''Pilgrim'' arlater did with all the oyles and wines above expressed<br /> and other Merchandize on board her ride at Anchor nneere dicks shoare<br /> arlate in a safe and convenient place where shipps use to ride And futher<br /> to this article hee cannot depos To the 3 and 4th articles of the sayd Libell hee saith that in the moneth of May<br /> last at such tyme as the dammage in question happened the arlate<br /> Thomas Woodfin was commonly Accompted to be Master of the<br /> ''Exeter Merchant'' And hee saith that while the ''Pilgrim'' and her sayd ladeing<br /> soe lay at Anchor neere dicks shoare the ''Exeter Merchant'' did through<br /> the carelessenes and neglect of her sayd Master thereof and company of her<br /> in the moneth of May last fall fowle of the ''Pilgrim'' and brake her cable and her boltspritt<br /> and the knee of her head and alsoe draw her a shoare by which meanes shee being<br /> heavie laden was much wrung and hurt in her hull and divers of the casks wherein the oyles<br /> and wines aforesayd were by reason of the ''Exeter Merchants'' soe falling fowle<br /> and driving the ''Pilgrim'' a shoare were much damnified, and became<br /> leakie, and leaked out much of the oyles and wine in them, And hee<br /> saith after the sayd disasrer soe happened the Company of the<br /> ''Pilgrim'' makeing use of their pumpe ro cleere their sayd shipp<br /> of water pumped up much oyle thereat, whereas before teh sayd<br /> disaster happened there was very little oyle pumped, this hee<br /> knoweth being aboard and seeing the premisses and alsoe knowing<br /> that there was little oyle came up at the pumpe through the<br /> whole voyage in question untill after the sayd disaster, And<br /> further to these articles hee cannot depose./ To the 5th hee saith hee knoweth that by the disaster aforesayd divers<br /> butts of Oyle belonging to the arlate Batthurst did leake out much<br /> oyle, but to what quantitie or the value thereof hee knoweth not<br /> And hee saith hee alsoe knoweth that two butts of wine belonging<br /> to the sayd Baker did by the disaster aforesayd soe leake out that<br /> there was not above five Inches deepe left in each caske which was<br /> only lees this hee knoweth for that hee gaged the sayd two butts and saith that his this deponents estimate the sayd wines soe leaked was worth at least 13 ''li'' a butt And hee<br /> alsoe saith that some of the caskes of oyles belonging to the sayd Clarke did<br /> byging to the sayd Clarke did<br /> by  +
