where and in parts neere adioyning within<br />
the hundred of ffeversham hee hath lived<br />
upward of twenty yeares last past<br />
aged fifty yeares or thereabouts a<br />
wittnes sworne and examined saith and deposeth<br />
as followeth videlicet
To the sayd allegation made in the Acts of Court hee saith that<br />
hee this deponent hath bin an Inhabitant and ffisherman and a Tennant<br />
of the Mannor and hundred of ffeversham for these Twenty yeares<br />
last past and upwards and thereby well knoweth that the grounds<br />
allegate called the [?Nebb] or harth shoare and the East Swale and the<br />
[?Beton] grounds, and the Nass grounds, and Pollard grounds are fishing<br />
grounds and water courses wherein are oyster bedds and are lying within and belonging to the Mannorr<br />
and hundred of ffeversham allegate, and are part of the sayd mannor and hundred<br />
and for such of this deponents knowledge hath bin during the sayd<br />
tyme commonly reputed, and hath bin reputed to belonge and be<br />
part of the sayd mannor and hundred (as this deponent hath heard from aunchient<br />
Inhabitants and from aunchient tennants of the sayd Mannor and hundred) tyme out of mynde and<br />
memory of men now liveing And hee saith that for the sayd twenty<br />
yeares last past the ffishermen of the sayd<br />

and noe others have ought to have right (as hee beleeveth) to ffish in the sayd grounds and watercourses and<br />
oyter bedds in them and saith they have fished and doe fish (and ought to fish as hee beleeveth) in them exclusively<br />
to all others whatsoever and take and convert the oysters and fish by them there<br />
taken to their owne use and benefit, and hee saith they have during the sayd<br />
tyme payd yearely in liew of the sayd priviledge soe to doe<br />
to the Lords of the sayd Mannor of ffeversham or their stewards the yearely rent of<br />
