Transcription To the 6th 7th 8th and 10th articles hee sTo the 6th 7th 8th and 10th articles hee saith that hee this deponent<br /> being then a factor resident in Saint Lucar aforesayd did negotiate for the sayd<br /> Keene in the disposall of certaine goods which the sayd Keene had then on<br /> board the sayd Ketch ''John and Elizabeth'' for his owne Accompt, as alsoe in<br /> endeavouring to procure Mariners to have proceeded in the sayd Ketch on her<br /> voyage to Palma, and thereby knoweth and tooke notice that the sayd<br /> Keene did cause the goods on board his sayd Catch to bee unladen for the [?neere] comodious repayring the sayd Catch and,<br /> sawe the goods on board her for the use of Mr Cowes deposited in the<br /> hanads of the arlate Peter Probie and Edward Watts (English Merchants<br /> resident at Saint Lucar) to be safe kept by them untill the sayd Ketch was<br /> repaired and fitted with Mariners to proceede her voyage to Palma<br /> And alsoe hee well knoweth that the sayd Keene did him selfe use all<br /> endeavour hee could, and this deponent alsoe in his behalfe did use all the<br /> endeavour hee could possible to have hyred men to proceede on the sayd<br /> voyage to Palma, but saith hee well knoweth that notwithstanding<br /> such their endeavour, there were noe mariners could be gotten<br /> to proceede on the sayd voyage, save two dutch men and one more whome<br /> this deponent beleeveth was a Scott, which dutch men and Scott after they had<br /> bin on board about a weekes tyme did runne awaye, and as hee<br /> hath credibly heard andbeleeveth did before their running away breake open<br /> a locker in the sayd Mr Keenes Cabin and tooke away divers peeces of<br /> eight and gold with them to the value of 7 ''li'' or 8 ''li'' sterling<br /> And hee this deponent further saith that hee well knoweth that the<br /> sayd Keene seeing him selfe soe forsaken and robbed by the dutch men and<br /> Scott aforesayd, did endeavour to hyre certaine Mariners belonging to a shipp<br /> newly cast away at Chippiona neere Saint Lucar to have navigated<br /> his sayd Catch on her intended voyage to Palma, but of his this<br /> deponents knowledge the sayd Mariners refused to goe in her that<br /> voyage, and would not goe for any wages whatsoever but told<br /> the sayd Keene if hee would goe for England they would serve<br /> him to dartmouth but noe further, whereupon the sayd Keene seeing<br /> hee could get noe Mariners to proceede to Palma was forced to<br /> leave the goods of the arlate Cowse and did leave them, safely deposited<br /> in the hands of the sayd Proby and watts and returne with his<br /> sayd Catch by helpe of the sayd mariners for Dartmouth<br /> the premisses hee deposeth for the reasons<br /> aforesayd being imployed by the sayd Keene as aforesayd and seeing<br /> the sayd Cowse his goods safely delivered into the hands of the sayd<br /> Proby and Watts for the use of the sayd Cowes And this deponent<br /> well knoweth that the sayd Cowes was by the sayd Proby and Watts<br /> advisede sayd Proby and Watts<br /> advised  +
