Transcription to carry her for Brest, there came two smato carry her for Brest, there came two small English men of warr and<br /> assailed and fought the said Brestman, and at length tooke the said man of<br /> warr and rescued the ''Rappahanack'' being a shipp of London; and after the<br /> said seizure and rescue, this deponent (who was one of the company of<br /> the ''Rappahanack'') perceived and understood that one of the said English men<br /> of warr that made the said seizure was called the ''hopewell Pinck'' (Lambert<br /> Cornelison commannder) and was in the immediate service of this Commonwealth<br /> and that the other was a private man of warr called the ''hound'', commannded<br /> by one derrick Swine, or some such name. And saith the said two English=<br /> =men of warr came neere together in company to the said Brestman and<br /> ''Rappahanack'', but the ''hound'' was foremost of the two, and first entred<br /> the ''Rappahanack'', (which hee knoweth because hee this deponent was then<br /> in the ''Rappahanack'' and was one of her company) and that the ''Hound''<br /> assisting to the ''hopewell'' in taking the Brestman of warr, but which<br /> of them first entred the Brestman hee saith hee knoweth not. And<br /> further saith that the said shipp the ''hound'' had about 6 or 8 peeces<br /> of ordnance at the time of the said seizure, and the ''hopewell'' had tenn<br /> peeces, and was of about 40 tonnes burthen, and the ''hound'' of 40 tonnes<br /> burthen and upwards in his estimation. And otherwise hee cannot depose. To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING] To the first hee saith hee hath noe share in the ''hound'' or is any way<br /> concerned in her, and otherwise hee cannot answer, To the second hee cannot answear, saying hee knoweth nothing of the contents<br /> thereof To the third hee saith hee never sawe the Commission interrogated, And otherwise<br /> hee cannot depose. To the fourth hee saith there were severall shotts made at the ''Rappahanack''<br /> and Brestman by the said two Englishmen of warr before the said seizure and<br /> rescue, And otherwise hee cannot answer saving as foresaid. To the 5th hee cannot depose. To the 6th hee saith that the ''hounds'' men had entred and were aboard<br /> the ''Rappahanack'' an houre and more before any of the ''hopewalls'' men<br /> boarded her, And otherwise hee cannot answear, saying hee knoweth not<br /> of Lambert Cornelison his comming aboard the ''Rappahanack'' in person. To the 7th hee saith the ''Rappahanack'' had bin about a fortnight taken<br /> and in custodie of the Brestman of warr before the said Rescue by the<br /> English. And otherwise hee cannot answear.
