Transcription To the ninth Interrogatory he answereth thTo the ninth Interrogatory he answereth that all the barrells<br /> of Raysins belonging to the sayd Richard Slany were<br /> maarked as in the margent, and that all the barrells '''TF''' [MERCHANT'S MARKE, LH MARGIN] of Raysins belonging to the said Christopher Chappell<br /> were marked as in the Margent, And further to the '''X''' [MERCHANT'S MARKE, LH MARGIN] sayd Interrogatory he knoweth not to answeare./ Repeated before doctor<br /> Clerk/ John Court [SIGNATURE, RH SIDE] ********************* On the same day [CENTRE HEADING] '''2)''' '''John Salter''' of the parish of Saint Botolph without<br /> Allgate London Mariner, where he hath lived about<br /> seaven yeares past, aged about 49 yeares, a<br /> wittnes sworne and examined he deposeth and<br /> saith as followeth. To the first, second third and fourth articles of the<br /> Libell given in and admitted in this cause he saith and deposeth<br /> that he knoweth the arlate Richard Slany, and Christopher<br /> Chappell, and alsoe the arlate Richard Steevens, and that<br /> he this deponent was about Shrovetide last past desired<br /> by the said Steevens to goe and worke aboard the arlate shipp the ''George'' of London, wherof he was Master and that at such<br /> time this deponent did goe aboard her, she lay safely<br /> anchored and moored neere unto Lymehouse, And further<br /> he cnnot depose. To the fifth, sixth and seaventh articles he deposeth and<br /> saith that he this deponent was on board the arlate shipp<br /> the ''George'' of London when the Lighter knowne by the<br /> name of a french Lighter came to the said shipps side,<br /> and that he this deponent did helpe in the handing of as many<br /> barrells of Raysins out of the said shipp into the said<br /> Lighter as the said Lighter could carry, and that all the<br /> sayd barrells of Raysins were at their putting into the said<br /> Lighter very dry and well conditioned and undammaged of his<br /> certaine sight and knowledge, And further he cannot depose. To the eight and ninth articles he saith that he the deponent<br /> did by order of the Master of the said shipp the ''George'' goe<br /> into the said Lighter, and goe with the said goods<br /> soe laden in her into ffreshwharfe, and continued in her there<br /> untill her goods were delivered, and that before such time<br /> the said goods were delivered the Raisins did take wett and<br /> were damnifyed by the leakynes of the said Lighter, And<br /> further he cannot depose. To the tenth and eleaventh articles he deposeth and saith that<br /> the damage which happened to the said goods was through the<br /> insufficiency of the said Lighter, And that after the said<br /> goods were delivered on shore at ffreshwharfe the arlate<br /> Richard Slany and Christopher Chappell (who till then this deponent<br /> did not know were the Owners of the said goods) came thither<br /> and complayned of the samage their said goods had received, But<br /> he saith he knoweth not the value of the same And further<br /> he cannot depose.
