or thereabouts, sworne and examined.
To the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that hee well knoweth the<br />
producents henry Chewne and ffrancis ffowke<br />
and well knoweth that in or about the moneth of March last opast William<br />
ffowke Merchant, Consul of the Morea, as factor of and for the said<br />
henry Chewne and ffrancis ffowke laded aboard the shipp the ''Castle<br />
frigot'' John Wall Commander in the Roade of Petras thirteene<br />
butts and six Carratells of Morea Currants to be thence transported<br />
in the said vessell to this port of London and here to be delivered to<br />
the said henry Chewne and ffrancis ffowke (or order) for whose accompt<br />
hee saith they were laden, and upon their adventure, and further<br />
that the said William ffowke at or about the same time at Petras<br />
aforesaid laded aboard the said shipp for the accompt of the allegate<br />
Thomas Middleton six butts and one Caratell of the like Currants<br />
to be transported to this port for his the said Thomas his accompt<br />
and upon his adventure, all which hee knoweth to be true, because<br />
hee this deponent was then and there present, and sawe the lading<br />
of the said two parcells of currance, namely those for mr Chewne<br />
and mr ffowke and those for Captaine Middleton, and was<br />
particularly acquainted with and privie to the providing them<br />
for the said respective accompts with moneys which the said William<br />
ffowke had (as hee said) in his hands of the said respective producents,<br />
and besides hee heard him severall times say at and before the time of<br />
the said lading; that the said respective producents had sent him money<br />
expressely for the buying and lading the said goods for their said accompts<br />
and for the reasons aforesaid<br />
and having nowe seene the bills of lading exhibited, (which hee saith hee<br />
sawe signed at Petras in the Roade aboard the said shipp by the said [?Wall<br />
hee saith hee well knoweth the said henry Chewne and ffrancis<br />
ffowke to be the true owners of the said thirteene butts and six<br />
Caratells and the said Thomas Middleton of six butts and one Caratell<br />
of Morea Currants aforesaid, and that the same were laden for their<br />
respective accompts and that they have run the adventure thereof, and<br />
saith the contents of the said bills were and are true and soe had and<br />
donne as therein is contained, which hee knoweth being present as<br />
aforesaid and privie to the said contents. And hee moreover deposeth<br />
taht before and to the time of the lading of the said respective parcells<br />
of Currants namely for the space of a fortnight or thereabouts before<br />
the said lading (that this deponent was there) hee this deponent sawe<br />
the said Currants in the custodie and possession of the said William<br />
ffowke in a warehouse at Petras under his locke and key, and<br />
sawe them or most of them taken and laden thence aboard the said shipp and<br />
helped to carry them from the warehouse to the shipps boate<br />
andhouse to the shipps boate<br />
