Transcription before a Master of the Chancery every of tbefore a Master of the Chancery every of them make oath of the<br /> reality of their propriety in the sayd shipp ''Saint John Baptist'' and her<br /> ladeing now in question seized (as by the proceedings in their cause may<br /> appeare) by the arlate Captaine Robert Sedgewick and Captaine John Leveret,<br /> And hee beleeveth that the sayd Arnold Beake and Eias Beake and Company<br /> Owners of the sayd shipp and goods did after publique Summons made upon<br /> the Exchange London Examine certaine witnesses for the proveing of their<br /> propriety in the sayd shipp and ladeing seized by the sayd Sedgewick<br /> Levert and others, and for the more certainty thereof referreth him selfe to the<br /> REgistry of the sayd Court of Admiralty where the same was soe acted<br /> and donne And hee saith that the sayd Arnold and Elias Beake and Company<br /> understanding their sayd shipp and goods were carried (after seizure)<br /> by the sayd Sedgewick Leveret and others) towards New England did sebd this<br /> deponent with full power from them and in their name to demande<br /> of the sayd Sedgewick Levert and others who seized her the sayd shipp and<br /> her ladeing seized on board her or at least full satisfaction for all damage<br /> susteyned thereby in case the sayd shipp and goods were disposed of and sold<br /> by the sayd seizers, and this deponent being soe authoriized, and alsoe<br /> by the sayd Arnold and Elias Beake and Company furnished with coppyes<br /> of the examination of witnesses taken as aforesayd in this Court touching<br /> the propriety of the sayd Arnold and Elias Beake and Company to the sayd<br /> shipp and goods for the cleerer manifestation of their tytle thereto, subscribed<br /> (as to this deponent appeared) by the arlate Edmond Arnold, and other<br /> Notaries for the better confirmation thereof, and alsoe with the originall<br /> affidavite made by the sayd Arnold and Elias Beake John dolins<br /> and Thomas Greene before a master in Chancery did togeather with his contest Thomas Wood (who<br /> was alsoe by the sayd Owners appointed to goe with this deponent and<br /> to assiste him in the recovery of the sayd shipp and goods) departe<br /> forth of the downes in the shipp the ''hopewell'' (whereof one James Garett<br /> was Commander) on the fifth day of May 1654 with intente to sayle<br /> to New England to looke after the sayd Shipp and ladeing, and this deponent<br /> carried the sayd Coppies of the examinations attested as aforesayd and the<br /> originall affidavitts aforesayd with him, by which affidavits and examinations<br /> which this deponent read over and perused it did to him cleerely appeare that<br /> the sayd shipp the ''Saint John Baptist'' and goods seized therein did belonge<br /> to the arlate Arnold and Elias Beake and Company Merchants of<br /> London and dover and this deponent verily beleeveth them to bee the true Owners<br /> of them And further saving his subsequent depositions hee cannot<br /> depose./ To the second third and fowerth articles of the sayd allegation hee saith and<br /> deposethegation hee saith and<br /> deposeth  +
