producent, whose servant he hath bin for fower<br />
yeares past, borne in the East Indies aged about<br />
19. yeares a wittnes sworne and examined he deposeth<br />
as followeth videlicet
To the first article of the sayd allegation given in and admitted on<br />
the sayd Crumps behalf he deposeth and saith That the<br />
shipp arlate the ''Stambaleene'' had at her arrivall here in this<br />
River of Thames, goods and Merchandizes on board her to the<br />
value of about 20000 ''li'' And further he cannot depose.
To the 2d article he deposeth and saith, That the shipp arlate<br />
the ''Stambaleene'' lying safe in her moorings neere Radcliffe<br />
the arlate William Crumpe the master of her having occasion<br />
to goe on shoar, he spake publiquely upon the Deck of<br />
the sayd shipp to all the Company that were there, and gave<br />
them a strict charge to have a speciall care to looke out to<br />
secure the sayd shipp from damage, and alsoe to<br />
have a care of the [?fire]. The words he saith he very well<br />
remembreth, for that he was by when the said Master the<br />
producent spake them, And further he cannot depose.
To the third he cannot depose.
To the fourth article he deposeth and saith That the arlate<br />
Crumpe did afterwards send this deponent aboard the<br />
sayd shipp and did order him this deponent aboard the<br />
sayd shipp and did order him to tell the Company then on<br />
board her that they showld looke unto the said shipp and<br />
have a care of the fire, which message or command this<br />
deponent did then deliver to the sayd shipps Company<br />
then aboard her, But he saith that the arlate [?Polgreene]<br />
was then gone ashoare, And further he cannot depose.
To the fifth and sixth articles of the sayd allegation he<br />
deposeth and saith that there were aboard the said shioo at<br />
the time this deponent returned about sixteene of the<br />
sayd shipps Company, and that at the time the fire<br />
brake out in the said shipp and discovered itselfe there<br />
were on board her besides the three Wayters sixe men and<br />
boyes, whereof this deponent was one, And the Gunner another and<br />
the rest he saith he cannot remember, and that all the rest<br />
of the sayd shipps Company except the sayd sixe men<br />
abnd boyes. had left the sayd shipp. at the time the fire<br />
in the said shipp tooke, wherby the said shipp and<br />
her rigging, and her goods and merchanizes to a great<br />
value were consumed and perished And further he<br />
cannot depose./
To the 7th he saith that he conceiveth that if all the sayd<br />
shipps company had bin on board her at the time the<br />
fire first appeared it might have bin quencht, and soe the<br />
said shipp and her ladeing preserved And further he<br />
cannot depose.
To the eight article he saith that he this deponent (who was on<br />
board the said shipp when she was on fire) saw not any<br />
of her company that were gone ashoare come aboard<br />
the said shipp whilst the fire was, And further he<br />
knoweth not to depose.
