1653 that this deponent and the said Mr fforth had speech and conference with<br />
the said Stephens about the said John Colemans proprietitie in the said two<br />
third parts and when they exhorted him the said Stephens to yeeld the same<br />
unto him (which was at the ffountaine aforesaid) this deponent asked the<br />
said Stephens if the said shipp was ever condemned in ffrance or any<br />
adiudication there or elswhere made of her, to which the said Stephens answered and<br />
confessed that there was noe condemnation or adiudication made of<br />
her in any Court and that answer of his this deponent tooke up and urged to<br />
him to induce him to yeeld the said Coleman his right namely his<br />
posession of the said two third parts, or to agree with him thereabouts telling him the said Stephens that<br />
hee would assuredly be [?cast] when the businesse came to dispute in lawe<br />
or to that effect, And otherwise hee cannot depose.

highnesse the Prince of Condet aged 20 yeares and upwards<br />
sworne and examined.
To the first second and third articles of the said allegation and to the schedule in the<br />
said third article menioned nowe showne unto him, hee saith and deposeth<br />
that about two yeares since hee this deponent living and serving at the<br />
house of the Chancelour of ffrance at Paris did diverse times see the<br />
producent [?XXXXthein] Quine at the said house, which hee frequented upon<br />
occasion of a [?processe] or businesse which hee had touching one Monsieur Le Breton<br />
and this deponent knoweth that that was the occasion of his frequent resort<br />
to that house for this deponent had often speech with him the said Quine<br />
being his countreyman of and about his businesse; And at length this deponent<br />
sawe that hee obtained a sentence or act thereupon; which the said Quine<br />
asoone as hee had extracted it, showed to this deponent, being the selfe<br />
same exhibit or schedule nowe soe showed unto him; which hee saith was<br />
and is sealed with the seale of ffrance, ordinarily affixed and used in the<br />
like affaires, which hee knoweth having seene a greate number of acts<br />
and Instruments passed thereunder in matters expedited by the kinge and<br />
his Counsell, and hee hath the more frequently seene<br />
the said seale and acts, by meanes of his living in the house as aforesaid<br />
of monsieur the Chancelour of ffrance. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
