Transcription The 23th day of May 1653. [CENTRE HEADING]The 23th day of May 1653. [CENTRE HEADING] Examined upon the foresaid allegation. '''2.''' '''Don Antonio de Ponte''' of the Island of Teneriff Merchant<br /> aged 29 yeares or thereabouts sworne and examined. To the first and 2 articles of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that hee well<br /> knoweth the producent Lorenzo da Velez and hath soe donne for theise nine<br /> yeares last past or thereabouts, and knoweth that in and for all or most part<br /> of the time arlate hee the said producent hath bin and at present is the true<br /> and lawfull owner and proprietor of all and singular the money, plate and<br /> goods schedulated (which schedule hath bin nowe read over unto him in his owne<br /> language) and for such commonly accompted and reputed, namely of thirtie<br /> peeces of silver of the first marke in the margin of the said schedule, fifteene<br /> [?peeces] of silver of the second marke in the margin, Two small barrs of<br /> silver weighing about 40 markes and two baggs of silver each contayning 258 peeces<br /> of eight of the third marke, tenn baggs contayning each 200 peeaces of eight<br /> of the 4th marke, three baggs of the fifth marke contayning each 200 peeces<br /> of eight, 6 baggs of the 6th marke contayning each 200 peeces of eight<br /> one barr of silver of the 7th marke contayning about 56 markes, thirteene<br /> baggs without marke contayning each 200 peeces of 8 of Peru money<br /> foure baggs of the eighth marke contayning 230 peeces of eight, and<br /> three small barrs without marke or number, and that in or about<br /> the moneth of July last past and shortly after the arivall of the Spanish<br /> fleete from the West Indies, the said producent who brought the said<br /> plate and silver (all saving the thirteene baggs without marke) from<br /> the said Indies with him did in the bay of Cales lade and cause all<br /> the said silver and plate to be laden aboard the shipp the ''Sampson'' arlate<br /> Otto George master (bound for Ostend) for his the said producents<br /> owne accompt [ADD DATA]cents<br /> owne accompt [ADD DATA]  +
