sayd shipp bought of Michael Perry a Spanish merchant the arlate four<br />
hundred nynety six peeces of Campecha wood laden aboard the sayd shipp<br />
to be transported in the sayd shipp to Ostend for the accompt and Adventure<br />
of the sayd John Ropke there to be delivered and disposed to his benefitt and<br />
accompt by Christian Cloppenbergh to whom as the sayd John Roopke<br />
told this deponent att Cadiz he the sayd Roopke had given sufficient order and<br />
Commission in that behalfe; And saith for the reasons aforesayd the sayd<br />
John Roopke was and is the lawfull Owner and Proprietor of the sayd moyety<br />
of eight butts of sack, and the sayd 496 peices of Campock wood, and<br />
as and for such was and is commonly reputed and taken and further he<br />
cannot depose.
To the fourth he saith there was of the sight and knowledge of this deponent<br />
about the tyme predeposed laden aboard the sayd shipp three butts of<br />
sack for the accompt of the Mariners of the shipp the ''Salvadores'' Company

one whereof was marked with the first marke in the margent another

with the second marke in the margent another with the third marke

in the margent, to be transported from Cadiz to Ostend for the accompt<br />
and Adventure of the sayd Mariners and there to be delivered and<br />
disposed by them the sayd Mariners being their owne goods and<br />
bought for their use and accompt<br />
att the port Santa Maria in Spaine And for lawfull Owners<br />
of the sayd three butts of sack the sayd Mariners were and are commonly<br />
accounted and taken. And further he cannot depose.
To the fifth he saith that after the sayd goods and moneyes were laden<br />
aboard as aforesayd the sayd shipp having the sayd goods and moneys<br />
and severall other greate quantityes of goods and sylver aboard set<br />
sayle from Cadiz towards Ostend and in her course thither was seized by<br />
some of the ships of this Commonwealth, by meanes of which seizure<br />
the sayd goods and moneys now claymed came into the possession of the<br />
Takers, which this deponent knoweth being master of the ''Saint George''<br />
that sayled along from Cadiz in Company with the ''Salvador'' aforesayd<br />
And further he cannot depose
To the sixth he saith the arlate Christian Cloppenbergh is a native, and<br />
Burgher of Hamburgh and there hath his wife and damily, and hath<br />
there lived all his tym, and is a subiect of the free state of Hamburgh<br />
and so accounted this deponent being an Hamburgher and well acquainted with the sayd Christian Cloppenbergh
To the seventh he saith that John Ropke arlate was and is a native of<br />
Hamburgh and for all his tyme till within six yeares now past hath<br />
dwelt att Hamburgh, and for theis six yeares or thereabouts hath lived<br />
att Sevill in Spaine as a merchant stranger, which this deponent knoweth<br />
being an Hamburgher and well acquainted with the sayd John Roopke And<br />
further he cannot depose
To the eighth he saith that all the Mariners of the sayd shipp the ''Salvadores''<br />
Company were Hamburghers, and others subiects of the free Sttates and<br />
Principalityes neere to Hamburgh in freindship and amity with this commonwealth<br />
and not subiects of the States of the united Provinces or King of ffrance<br />
which this deponent knoweth by the frequent conversation he hath had with<br />
