annexed to the said Allegation, being as hee this deponent for the reasons predeposed <br />
and subsequent assuredly believeth 9. of the originall bills of lading signed by <br />
the respective Master and Otto George his Purser in his name at Cadiz upon the receipt.<br />
of the said respective parcells of silver plate and moneys, videlicet: one bill of <br />
lading for each parcell saving the two parcells of the marke '''P. F.''' laden <br />
aboard the said shipp the ''Sampson'', both which parcells were contayned in one <br />
bill of lading. And saith this deponent: hath also seene in the Registry of this<br />
Court nine other bills of lading of the same [tenure]: markes and numbers<br />
filling up annd firmed with which the said bills annexed are marked numbered<br />
filled up and firmed. And by the said factors letters of advise predeposed this<br />
deponent. saith hee hath observed, That there were also duplicates of the said<br />
bills left and remaining in their respective custodie at Cadiz. And saith that the bills annexed to the allegation and those remaineing in the registrey of <br />
this Court were and are filled up and firmed by [aud ou/th] the severall <br />
handwritings hereafter specified, videlicet those for the silver laden by William <br />
Jansen are filled up with the handwriting of the said Jansens Scrivano or<br />
Servant, and those for the silver laden by Peter Lois are filled up with his<br />
owne handwriting, and those for the silver laden by John Lamotte are <br />
filled up with the handwriting of [Llerman] Lamotte his brother, and of <br />
himselfe, and the bills for the silver laden in the ''Sampson'' were and are firmed by the Purser of<br />
Otto George, in his name, those in the ''Salvador'' by Christian Cloppenburgh, <br />
and those in the ''Saint George'' by John Martins [?Dorp] with their owne<br />
handwritings, which hee knoweth by the long experience and frequent obser-<br />
-vation of the severall handwritings and firmes aforesaid, aswell as it is possible<br />
for a man to know the handwriting of another wherein hee hath been long versed and<br />
experienced. Hee further saith That the said bills of ladeing annexed to the<br />
saith Allegation were sent unto and received by the said producent at<br />
Antwerp in the moneths of August September October and November 1652<br />
, and saith the said producent hath [?snire] sent them<br />
hither to one Master Rishoult and Compaine his Correspondents purposely<br />
to make use thereof in the reclayming of the said silver, All which said<br />
bills of lading seene and presented by this deponent: hee for the reasons predeposed<br />
is assured in Conscience, are true and reall, and so had and done as<br />
therein is contained. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the 5th and 6th hee saith hee hath Credibly heard, and hath observed<br />
by the said producents bookes of accompts, that hee the said producent<br />
had formerly lived at Dover in England, and had from them for<br />
severall yeares drive a trade to Spaine for silver and plate, and saith<br />
the said producent is at present an inhabitant of Antwerp, and hath <br />
lived there for about 6. yeares last past of this deponent knowledge, and is<br />
a Subject of the King of Spaine, and for such was and is well knowne <br />
