Transcription To the first Article of the sayd allegatioTo the first Article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith and deposeth that the<br /> arlate shipps hereafter mentioned did sett sayle together from the Elve of<br /> Hamburgh, bound for france some for Rochell some to Nantes and<br /> others for other ports for wynes upon the 27th day of September<br /> last past, that is to say. the ''Mercury'' John Detree master The ''hope'' Hendrick Marens<br /> Master. the ''ffortune'' Bernard Bardaynke Master. the ''Carp fanger'' Barent Jacobson Master<br /> The ''Prophet Elias'' Simon Cornelison master the ''King David'' Jacob Young master ''Saint Mathias''<br /> Claus Billiet Master ''Brewer'' Claus van Raton Master the ''King David'' this deponent<br /> Master ''Saint Anthony'' Zacharias Mielde Master the ''fflower Boy'' Peters master. the ''fortune''<br /> Joachim Dowke Master the 'ffortune'' of Stralsund. The ''Hope'' of Lubeck<br /> Hendrick Caven Master a shipp whereof Gerdt ffalcas was Master, and saith<br /> the ssayd shipps came out without any Convoy or men of warr with them<br /> and that teh first day of October being Saturday as he taketh it as they<br /> were in the North seas in their direct Course for ffrance, the ''Hope'' of<br /> Dantsick, one Lubecker and the ''Starr'' of Emden Peter Eppen master ipyned<br /> with the sayd ffleet and sayle along in Company with them. And<br /> knoweth the premisses being then in the sayd ffleet mast of the ''King''<br /> ''David'' as aforesayd. And otherwise cannot depose. To the second and third Articles of the sayd allegation This deponent saith that upon<br /> Sunday morning being as he taketh it the second of October last past<br /> a small English Caper fell into the sayd ffleet and as he hath heard did<br /> plunder the sayd shipp ''Mercury'' and in the forenoone of the same<br /> day two shipps were discovered in the reare of the sayd ffleet<br /> but knoweth not what colors they or eyther of them had, and they<br /> upon the discovery of the foresayd English Caper seemed to pursue<br /> him, but continued all that day neere a league to the sterne of the<br /> sayd ffleet. And saith that about 3 in the afternoone a small English<br /> frigot and an English Galliott happened into the sayd ffleet upon<br /> the discovery whereof the sayd two shipps in the reare made after<br /> the sayd frigot flying before them, to the Leeward before the wind<br /> towards the ffrench Coast and the sayd galliott towards the English<br /> Coast, and the sayd two shipps in the reare continued all that day<br /> att a good distance from the sayd Hamburgh ffleet. All which he knoweth<br /> for the reasons aforesayd and otherwise cannot depose, saving that the<br /> premisses happened in the English Channell betweene Dover and<br /> Calice and to the westward. To the fourth and fifth article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith that upon the<br /> sayd Sunday night and the next day the wind being full westerly and contrary<br /> to the said Hamburgh ffleet they made little way so as upon the Munday<br /> morning the third of October as he taketh it the sayd 2 shippes formerly in<br /> the reare were come upp into the sayd ffleet. and the same day another<br /> English frigott with about 16 gunnes came neere the sayd ffleet<br /> upon discovery of which frigott the sayd 2 shippes made a pursuit<br /> after her, And saith that the wind being contrary the sayd ffleet<br /> was forced to tack about too and fro to gather wind for their course<br /> and about eight in the morning of the sayd Munday the ''Elizabeth frigot''<br /> was discovered sailing directly before the wind upon the discovery<br /> whereof the foresayd two shipps putt on the Aurange Colours and made<br /> towardsrange Colours and made<br /> towards  +
