To the .16. he saith that by the foresayd letters of advise sent to him<br />
from James Pinequet and sayd Juan Henricques de Messa he<br />
is given to understand that the foresayd linnens are french linnens<br />
videlicet made in ffrance and that they were laden att Rohan by<br />
Jaques ffemanel aforesayd (who is a frenchman and a subiect of the King of ffrance) but for the<br />
accompt of the sayd James Pinquet who was and is a fflandrian<br />
borne and inhabitant of Antwerpe as aforesayd. And otherwise<br />
he saith he cannot depose.

Citty of Westminster gentleman aged 26 yeares<br />
or thereabouts a witnes sworne and examined<br />
deposeth and saith as followeth videlicet.
To the first article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith That in or<br />
about the moneth of ffebruary 1645, and after the passing of the<br />
Secund[?a] Decret[?a] in this Court on the behalfe of the arlate Mr<br />
Edward Cludd against one eighth part of the arlate shipp<br />
the ''Nathan'' the sayd Mr Cludd and the allegat Todd came to<br />
an Accompt togethe, and upon the making up of the Accompt<br />
betwixt them, the sayd Todd did stand really and truly indebted<br />
unto him the sayd Mr Cludd in the summe of three hundred<br />
eighty one pounds three shillings and nyne pence sterling<br />
for part of which moneyes the sayd Todd gave unto<br />
the sayd Mr Cludd three severall bills which were afterwards payd att the<br />
severall tymes videlicet one bill for one hundred pounds<br />
and another bill for eighty one pounds three shillings and<br />
nyne pence, and one other bill for payment of twenty five<br />
pounds. And saith that for the others seventy five pounds being<br />
the remaynder of the sayd two hundred eighty one pounds [?three]<br />
shillings and nyne pence, It was mutually concluded and<br />
agreed by and betweene the sayd Mr Cludd and Mr Todd<br />
that he the sayd Mr Cludd should have one sixteenth part of the<br />
shipp the ''Nathan'' and her tackle and furniture to his owne use<br />
and the other sixteenth part he the sayd Mr Cludd should [?XXX]<br />
and transfer over unto the sayd Tod, and that thereup the [?sayd]<br />
Mr Cludd should give unto him the sayd Todd agenerall release<br />
which the sayd Mr Cludd accordingly did by a generall Release<br />
bearing date some short tyme before the giving of the aforesayd [?bill]<br />
and agreement made for the sixteenth part of the sayd shipp<br />
as aforesayd. the premisses this deponent knoweth to be true for that<br />
