ffrench or dutch merchants so far as this deponent knoweth or hath heard. And<br />
otherwise saving his foregoeing depositions he cannot depose.
To the .15. he saith the sayd shipp ''Saint Peter'' was att the tyme of her seizure in<br />
the possession of dutch men subiects of of the States of the united Provinces<br />
and her Company were most of them subiects of the sayd States. and she<br />
and her lading would have gone to Nantes in ffrance if they had not beene<br />
surprized as aforesd.
To the .16. he saith Daniell Archer did informe this Rendent that the producent<br />
had sent him order to clayme the moneyes now in question, and this Rendent<br />
beleiveth it to be true that the sayd Mr Archer hath such order. and<br />
otherwise he cannot depose.
To the 17. he saith the sayd Daniel Archer is an Irishman and noe ffrenchman<br />
nor subiect of the ffrench King, and as this Rendent hath heard hath<br />
bene about a yeare and an halfe in England, and was in ffrance about<br />
6 yeares agoe, but when hee came last from thence this Rendent knoweth<br />
not. And otherwise he cannot depose.

of the sayd shipp the ''ffortune'', aged<br />
four and twenty yeares or thereabouts<br />
a witnes sworne and examined deposeth<br />
and saith as followeth videlicet.
To the first Article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith and deposeth that<br />
in the monthes of June July August and September last past and<br />
before and since hee this deponent was and ought to be the true<br />
and law full Owner of the sayd shipp the ''ffortune'' the tackle and<br />
furniture, and was in the sayd tyme master and Commander of<br />
her, and saith he bought the sayd shipp for ready moneyes about<br />
a yeare agoe att Hamburgh. And otherwise he cannot depose.
To the second article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith and deposeth that<br />
in or about the month of August 1653 last past the sayd shipp the ''ffortune''<br />
was and remayned att or neere the Island of Palma, and during her<br />
abode there the arlate Joseph Markes, John Baptista Mogarita<br />
and Company all Spanish merchants and subiects of the King of<br />
