To the first Interrogatory This Rendent saith that the sayd shipp the ''Lewis'' or<br />
''?Lowisa'' was taken neere to Holy yeland by the ''Kentish frigot'' whereof Captaine<br />
Reynolds was Commander and this Rendent masters mate, and saith he<br />
comes to be examined as a witnes by the meanes of the sayd Captaine<br />
Reynolds, and saith he knoweth not what he is to have if the sayd shipp<br />
and goods be condemned. And as for the ''Hunter'' and her lading<br />
he knoweth nothing thereof. And otherwise he cannot depose.
To the second Interrogatorye This Rendent saith that there<br />
was about 15 tonne of oyle taken out of the ''Lousia'' (sic) and sent upp in a<br />
hoy to this port of London but by whose order he knoweth not, but doth<br />
beleive It was sent to London by the Order of the sayd Captaine Reynolds.<br />
and saith he doth not endeavour to procure the sayd shipps ''Lowisa'' and<br />
''Hunter'' and their lading to be condemned for prize, but being sworne<br />
in Court in a legall way to speake the truth in this cause hath now declared<br />
the same according to his knowledge. And saith that Captaine Brandley<br />
Commander of the Squadron whereto the ''Kentish frigot'' did<br />
belong, did cause three small Iron gunnes with their carriages wormes<br />
sponges and other appartenances to be taken out of the ''Lowisa'' into the<br />
''Kentish frigot'' for the service of this Commonwealth. And further he<br />
cannot depose.

To the first second and third Articles of the sayd allegation This deponent saith<br />
and deposeth that he hath knowne the arlate Don Sebastian da Cortizos<br />
from his youth, and saith that he hath for twenty yeares now past bene<br />
and now is an Assentista of his Catholique Majestie the King of Spaine and<br />
doth furnish his sayd Majestie with moneyes for his occasions in Italy and<br />
fflanders, And that the sayd Don Sebastian da Cortizos in January ffebruary<br />
and March last past 1652 and in March Aprill and May 1653 was and att<br />
this present the true and lawfull Owner and proprietor of one hundred and<br />
eleven sackes of wool of the first marke in the margent and of nyne<br />
sackes more of wooll of the second marke in the margent, and that in or<br />
about the moneth of January 1652 the sayd Don Sebastian da Cortizos did<br />
att or neere Allicant in Spaine cause the sayd 111 sackes of wool of the<br />
first marke in the margent and the sayd nyne sackes of wool of the second<br />
marke in the margent to be laden on board the sayd shipp the ''Saint Augustine''<br />
