to bee Delivered unto the said Paulo Maria C[?o]rdi his Brother<br />
The premisses hee deposeth because hee this Examinate<br />
was at Naples at such tyme as the said ship the<br />
''Royall'' was with her present loading of Rice brought into that<br />
Port after such tyme as she was taken at Sea by Captaine<br />
Hall commander of a Squadrom of the Parliaments ships, and then<br />
and there heard it comonly and gernerally reported that the said<br />
Ryce did belong unto the said producents and that the same<br />
was taken by them as a prize from the Turks as aforesaid<br />
And saith that there was soe much notice taken of the seizure<br />
of the said shippe the ''Royall'' and her loading as that the<br />
Duke of Florence did write letters to Captaine Hall<br />
whilest hee was at Naples concerneing the same on the<br />
behalfe of the said producents who were and are his subiects<br />
And soe much this deponent saith was generally talked and<br />
spoken of by and amongest Merchants and other persons of qualitie<br />
then at Naples. And further hee cannot depose.
To the 3d article hee cannot depose
To the 4th article hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition<br />
And otherwise hee cannot depose
To the 5th hee cannot depose otherwise than as aforesaid.<br />
to which hee referreth himselfe.
To the 6th article hee saith and deposeth That the said producent<br />
John Francisco Cordj and Paulo Maria Cordj were and att<br />
this present are Italians and subiects of the great duke of<br />
Tuscany or Florence, and have therein howses and families<br />
resident in Ligorne where this deponent hath seene them<br />
and hath often conversed with them. And for such they the<br />
said persons are comonly accompted reputed and taken<br />
by all such as knowe them. And further hee cannot<br />
depose.
To the crosse Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first Interrogatorie hee saith hee answereth negatively<br />
to every part thereof.
To the second Interrogatorie hee saith that hee this Examinate is<br />
a Neapolitan by birth And otherwise referreth himselfe<br />
for further satisfaction to this Interrogatorie to his foregoeing<br />
deposition.
To the third Interrogatorie hee cannot depose otherwise than as<br />
aforesad
