Portugall shipps to come thither from<b … Portugall shipps to come thither from<br />
the east Indies, whereupon this respondent<br />
and his Company were Commanded and<br />
forced with theire said shipps by the offi=<br />
cers of the Kinge of Portugall there to<br />
give over theire said Corne freight and<br />
to Convoy the said Portugall shipps<br />
for Lisborne which they by the force afores<br />
said did performe and arrive therewith<br />
att Lisborne the 4th of August 1648 for<br />
which said voyadges from Lisborne to the<br />
Westerne Islands and backe againe this<br />
respondent and the rest of his owners did<br />
receave the Summe of 250 ''li'' and not above<br />
as hee beleeveth and this respondent bee<br />
leeveth that dureing that time it did cost<br />
this rendent and the rest of the owners<br />
in victualling for his Company the summe<br />
of 114 ''li'' besides other charges and the freight<br />
of his said shippe And otherwise for his<br />
parte hee doeth not beleeve the said pretensed<br />
position to bee true in any parte thereof<br />
Saveing this rendent beleeveth that hee<br />
this rendent did bringe in his said<br />
shippe from the Westerne Islands to<br />
Lisborne the number of Thirty Tonnes<br />
of Corne and not above as hee beleeveth<br />
and noe other goods which were dis=<br />
charged the 15th of August 1648 att Lisborne as hee beleebeth and this rendent<br />
beleeveth that hee staid and remained<br />
in the Westerne Islands aforesaid till<br />
the 22th of July 1648 and noe longer<br />
as hee beleeveth/d noe longer<br />
