Ad primum arlum dicta allegaconis deponit that at the time of the seizure in<br />
question of the shipp the ''White Swan'' afoesaid (which happened about five<br />
weekes since) there were aboard two papers, one whereof hee saith was a<br />
letter delivered unto him this examinate by Christian Peterson one of his<br />
owners living at Husem, directed to one Boatemaker of Rochel, which letter<br />
this deponent upon his arrivall with his said ship at Rochel, delivered to the<br />
said Boatemaker, which letter when the said Boatemaker had opened and read, bad<br />
Peterson to the same effect, namely to lade the said shipp with wine and<br />
brandy for husem upon the said Peterson and other the owners their accompt<br />
and soe one coming into the shipp (when hee received it, to speak with him, hee<br />
the said Boatemaker threw the letter downe upon the table in this deponents<br />
cabbin, and this deponent asking him as hee went out if hee would not<br />
take it with him, hee answered it matters not, saaying I know the contents<br />
and did soe before by other letters, and soe it remained aboard, this deponent<br />
afterwards fogetting to carry it to his house. And saith that the saiid<br />
other paper was an accompt of wages furnished from time to time by the<br />
said Boatemaker to this deponent for his shipps and companies necessarie occasions<br />
in ffrance amounting to three hundred and fiftie gilders or thereabouts, which hee soe advanced<br />
upon the bording being commanded to come aboard the Caper and bring his<br />
papers, hee to his best remembrance carried only those that are now in Court and are now showed unto<br />
him, and through hast left the other two as hee [?XXX ?XXX] in his chest in his Cabbin, with his<br />
key in his chest, and soe hee beleeveth they came to the hands of the said Capers<br />
men that were then come aboard him and commanded in his shipp, or for<br />
ought hee knoweth they may be in the chest still.
