Ad jum rendet that hee cometh at the request of one Captaine Steel who hearing<br />
that this deponent was at Malega when the ship the ''Jesus Mary Saint''<br />
''Andrew'' was there spake to this rendent to testify the truth herein. Espects<br />
nothing for his paines herein. And hath bin for five yeares and two<br />
months last upon a merchandizing voyage from port to port, and<br />
knoweth not whether hee bee worth anything or nothing. Et alr nescit
Ad 2 rendit that hee cannot specify the perticular parcells of the goods in question And<br />
saith that hee hath bin informed that the owners of the ''Petache'' are Italians and<br />
that they lett her to ffreight to the foresaid Dutch consull and merchants at Genoa<br />
and that there was insurance made at Genoa upon the said ship by which the ffreighters were to pay for her<br />
in case she should bee taken by the English. Et nescit se ad predepoita Alr nescit
Ad 3 nescit saying hee left the Hamborow and Osetend convoy at Malega when hee<br />
departed thence.
Ad 4 rendit that Sir Jeremy Smith went from Malaga about tenn dayes<br />
before this respondent who came thence yout the sixth of March last past and left by the Hamborow convoy there. Et alr nescit<br />
Salvis predepositis.
Ad 5 et 6 deponit that the words aforesaid were spoken in the presence of many of<br />
the Company of the ''John'' of London aforesaid. And saith theforesd Clubfooted<br />
Pilot was taken in at Alicant as this deponent hath bin informed by letters from severall<br />
merchants in Alicant, where he saith about tenn or eleaven weekes<br />
this deponent saw the said pilott and hath once bin in his house there where hee hath<br />
lived for about three yeers space as hee beleeveth. Et alr nescit rendira.

aged 44 or thereabouts, sworne in the<br />
high Court of the Admiraltie of England<br />
saith and deposeth by vertue of his oath.
That the said shipp the ''Richard and Elizabeth'' (whereof<br />
Richard Bothick was and is Master and part owner) being a Victualling<br />
shipp in the service of his Majestie riding on tuesday before the<br />
late lamentable fire at anchor in Solebay neere to the ''Assistance''<br />
''frigot'', Captaine Browne commannder, and the said Captaine<br />
desiring some firewood to be delivered aboard him out of the<br />
''Richard and Elizabeth'', shee laid the frigot aboard the next<br />
morning being Wednesday, and delivered wood aboard accordingly.<br />
And while the ''Richard and Elizabeth'' lay lashed aboard the<br />
said frigot, there were on the said Wednesay morning about foure<br />
or five baggs of Spanish wools put out of the frigot aboard<br />
her to be brought for London as for the use of the said Captaine<br />
Browne, and then througe fowle weather the ''Richard and''<br />
''Elizabeth'' bearing a sterne the frigot by the frigots helpe, and<br />
