of his said Sacred Majestiys. And saith that of his certaine<br />
knowledge (who belonged to the said ffrigot) the said<br />
Dowdall and Company could with her have taken severall<br />
vessells and ships [XX] the next day, and the next day after<br />
the said Proclamation, but they would not nor did the same<br />
but submitted to the said Proclamation. And further deposeth<br />
not./:
To the 6th. 7th. and 8th. hee saith that about foure or five<br />
dayes after his said Sacred majesty was soe proclaimed<br />
(on board the said ffrigot a certaine ffrigot called the ''Litchfeild''<br />
Comanded by one Captaine Barker, came into the Road<br />
of Mumbles, where the ''Henrietta Maria'' road at Anchor<br />
the Captaine of her and this Deponent being there ashore<br />
and seeing her come in, And saith the Company of the<br />
said ''Litchfeild ffrigot'' fired very many peeces of Ordinance<br />
at the ''Henrietta Maria'', and thereupon her Company<br />
let slip their Anchor, and sailed up, above the Towne<br />
and the ''Litchfeild'' following her, stuck at the Point<br />
and being not able to goe up then any further, her Captaine<br />
landed above forty men, all armed with Cutlaces.words,<br />
muskets, and such like weapons to seize upon the said<br />
''Henrietta Maria'', this Deponent and the Captaine being then at the Majors [?Swanzey]<br />
house (which was very neere to the place where the said ffrigott<br />
stuck) and seeing the said men soe landed. And saith that<br />
the said Major then told this Deponent and the said Captaine that hee had spoke to<br />
the said Barker, and told him that the said ffrigot sailed<br />
with the Duke of Yorks Commission, and that the King was<br />
proclaimed, or to that effect, which was soe told to the said<br />
Barker (as the said Major affirmed) before hee landed the said men. And saith<br />
that the Major would not lett the said Captaine nor this<br />
Deponent goe up to their said ffrigot, untill about a quarter<br />
of an hower after shee was seized by the said Barkers<br />
men, and hee then coming up to her, sawe her possessed by<br />
the said Barkers men, and [?most] of [XXX] the ''Henrietta Marias''<br />
Company in their shirts, they having bin stripped by the said<br />
Barkers Company, and this Deponent seeing the same went with<br />
severall of the ''Henrietta Marias'' Company to the majors<br />
house to acquaint him therewith who sent for the said Barker<br />
who came unto him, and the said Major told him in the presence<br />
of this Deponent and the Captaine and severall others of the Company<br />
of the ''Henrietta Maria'', that the King was proclaimed onboard<br />
the said ffrigot, and that from that time her Captaine and Company<br />
had not done any act of Hostility, but submitted, and that hee beleeved<br />
