To the first negatively for his part; and otherwise<br />
cannot answer.
To the 2 3. 4. 5 and 6 hee saith hee doth not [?knowe GUTTER]<br />
the interrogated[?Bowes] and [?kerins], and otherwise cannot<br />
answer saving as aforesaid.
To the 7th hee saith that somtimes the Captaines of<br />
the States shipps doe upon extraordinary [?occasions GUTTER]<br />
pay some of their men (as foreigners and [?XXX GUTTER]<br />
their wages, and receive it off the State by<br />
[?estimation] of theor [?ticket]. And further answereth<br />
not.

To the first hee saith that by whar hee haths eene<br />
and heard touching the said shipp and goods being<br />
Spanish, hee would condemne them for prize if<br />
hee were Judge of them, and conceiveth hee [?should GUTTER]<br />
doe iustly and safely therein.
To the 2 hee sauth hee did not see the papers<br />
and otherwise hee cannot answer.
To the 2. third, 4. 5. 6 and 7th hee refers<br />
himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, and cannot<br />
further answer, saving hee saw a couple of<br />
boxes, which the said van lynen said were his, and<br />
which had their markes scraped out, and this<br />
deponent thereupon chardged him and said<br />
they were yours, what need you strike or<br />
scrape out the numbers.
