beleevieth hire the arlate Bavin Pengelly and Ash to serve<br />
in this said Ship, on this voyage shee was bound out<br />
upon, And the said Ash was hired to serve in the said<br />
ship and was to have 36 ''s'' per month for every month<br />
hee should serve in the said Ship, saving for the two first moneths for which hee was to have about 30 ''s'' per month and the said Pengelly<br />
was hyred to be Masters second mate of the said Ship at<br />
the rate of 2 ''li'' 5 ''s'' per month for every month he<br />
should serve in the said ship this Deponent seeing them receive money<br />
in the Streights which wages he saith are usually given to such mariners<br />
that served in such a ship, and on such voyage, And<br />
the said Ash and Pengelly did very well do serve the<br />
same, And saith hee knoweth not for how much<br />
per month the said Bavin who was Chirurgion of the said ship was hired at, but saith<br />
hee did well deserve 55 ''s'' per month for every moneth<br />
hee served in the said Ship, And saith the said<br />
Bavien Pengelly and Ash did serve in the said<br />
ship, from her said departure from Gravesend (at which time they entered into whole pay) until<br />
the time the said ship was laden as hereafter is<br />
mentioned which her lading was in the night of the third<br />
of July 1658 or thereabouts. And saith the said ship<br />
from Gravesend sailed to Redowne in ffrance and<br />
there Delivered some goods and tooke in more goods and sailed<br />
therewith for Lisborne and there Delivered most of her lading and<br />
tooke in more goods, and carried the same to Marsellia and<br />
there Delievered part of her goods and tooke in some goods and<br />
Carried the same to Legorne, and there delivered some goods<br />
and tooke in some goods, and Carried the same to Marsellia<br />
and there delivered all her lading and tooke in a few goods some passengers and<br />
sailed with the same to Saint John de Acre and there discharged the goods and passengers<br />
there tooke in a lading and Carried the same to<br />
Marsellia, and there delivered the same, and tooke in ballast and a few goods<br />
and sailed from thence on or about the 16th of May<br />
1658., and safely arrived at Tunis, and there delivered some<br />
small things and tooke in a full Lading and about the Latter end of June<br />
1658. Sailed from thence with the same on board her<br />
and in the morning of the third of July following or thereabouts the said<br />
ship (as she was in her Course from Tunis to<br />
Legorne) was met with by a Spanish man of warr<br />
who chaced the said ship from daylight till about three<br />
of the clock in the afternoon, and then the Master and<br />
Company of the ''Anne and Margaret''. fought the said man<br />
of warr, and Continued ffight with her from that time<br />
till about eleven of the clock in the night in which fight<br />
he saith one of the ''Anne and Margaret'' Company<br />
was killed and about Eight wounded besides the master and<br />
foure of her gunnes were dismounted and her Decks<br />
