Transcription To the fowrth fifth 6 and 7th hee saith anTo the fowrth fifth 6 and 7th hee saith and deposeth that the said Betts as aforesayd<br /> was constituted master of the said shipp, John lopez principall Sopra cargo and<br /> this deponent his assistant, by the said Imployers, to carry the said goods to<br /> the Spanish West Indi[?a]s and there truck and barter them away for goods<br /> of that country to be brought for this coast, on which said voyage hee saith they<br /> departed in or about September 1657 in the said shipp with the said goods from<br /> Amsterdam, and went to Trinidad, Comana, Truxillo and honduras<br /> and having at Comana vended a small quantitie of goods, to raise<br /> moneys for the shipps occasions, they at honduras sold and bartered away the<br /> rest being the maine cargo, and therewith produced in truck, bought and<br /> provided for the said porducents their account severall goods and [?wares GUTTER]<br /> of those places, namely two hundred and eightie chests of Indigo; two<br /> and twenty chests, two small barrells and two small potacoes of druggs<br /> foure hundred seaventie six hides and one thousand ninetie foure arobes<br /> of Sassaperilla, and laded the said goods soe produced aboard the said<br /> ship for the said Imployers (the producents) their account, in<br /> which matter the said John Lopez being a Spaniard and soe the more free<br /> there to trade, did especially appeare and act, but all upon the sole account<br /> of the said producents, for whom the said goods were truely and really<br /> bought and provided, and were really the retourne and produced[XXX GUTTER]<br /> of theeir said outwards cargo, and were laded to be brought un th[?at GUTTER]<br /> said shipp for dover or the downes whense the marchants aforesaid<br /> of this cittie were to be advised of their arivall, to the end to order<br /> her discharge, and saith shee departed from the West Indies to<br /> come to the said places or one of them accordingly with the said<br /> goods, but by by (sic) adverse wind and weather was put into Milford<br /> haven, where shee arived safely with the said goods. All<br /> which hee knoweth going from place to place in her, and seeing the<br /> premisses soe donne, and being assistant to the said lopez in that<br /> affaire. To the eighth nineth and tenth articles hee saith and deposeth that after<br /> such arivall of the said shipp at Milford haven, the said John lopez<br /> hasted thense by land for London to advise his said principalls thereof<br /> and when the said shipp had bin about fifteene dayes there,<br /> namely at Milford haven, this deponent alsoe came thense to see his<br /> wife and familie in London, and left all the said goods aboard the said shipp<br /> without [?diminution] And further cannot depose. To the eleaventh hee saith the said goods soe provided in the West Ind[?ias GUTTER]<br /> (before particularized) were the oroceede of the said outward cargo of<br /> the said Imployers, and really and truely provided for them, without<br /> any Spaniards or enemies of this Commonwealth having any interest thereof<br /> which hee knoweth for the reasons aforesaid.
