To the 24th article hee saith that hee being Cooper as aforesayd knoweth<br />
that the arlate Thomas Grove did at Newfound land lade aboard the<br />
''peace'' for his owne Accompt a quantitie of trayne oyle and<br />
stowed the same under the Cooke rooms in the Lazeretto and that<br />
the sayd oyle did leake out very much and<br />
stand upon the deck in soe great quantitie that it might have bin<br />
laded up with a smale oyle dish And further to this article hee<br />
cannot depose./
To the 25th article hee saith he remembreth that at Nevis there happened<br />
some difference betweene the arlate Luke Woods and Thomas Grove on<br />
board the Shipp ''Peace'' and the sayd Luke Woods amongst other speeches<br />
told the sayd Grove openly upon the deck that the sayd Grove had broken<br />
his Charterparty and the sayd Grove thereto replyed and sayd thus or the<br />
like in effect if I thought I had broken my Charterparty the shipp<br />
should never goe home and those words passed on the open deck in presence<br />
of this deponent and severall others of the Company of the ''Peace'' And<br />
further hee cannot depose./
To the 26th article hee saith that hee did observe that the arlate<br />
Luke Woods during the whole voyage in question was very<br />
carefull and industrious in mannageing the affayres of the sayd<br />
shipp which belonged to his mannagement and in sale and disposall<br />
of her goods and merchandizes and buying and reladeing her with others<br />
And verily beleeveth and is perswaded in his conscience that if the sayd<br />
Thomas Grove the Master had used the like diligence in things<br />
belonging to his office the shipp ''Peace'' might have dispatched her<br />
voyage some moneths sooner than shee did And further hee<br />
cannot depose/
To the 27th article hee saith that hee veily beleeveth that in case the<br />
shipp ''Peace'' had arrived at the Barbados (which was the place<br />
whether shee was bound from Newfound land with her ladeing of<br />
goods) shee might have there disposed of her fish while the same<br />
was sound and marketable and made quicker returnes thence by<br />
some moneths to London than shee did And further saving his fforegoeing<br />
deposition to the 24th article hee cannot depose/
To the 28th article hee saith that hee knoweth that the sayd Luke Wood by<br />
reason the shipp ''Peace'' missed the Barbados was damnified in the sale<br />
of his three eighth parts of the sayd shipps ladeing of ffish and other goods<br />
to considerable summe but what to value the same at hiee<br />
knoweth not And further hee cannot depose./noweth not And further hee cannot depose./ +
