To the first article or position of the said Libell hee saith and deposeth<br />
that for and during all the monethes and time Libellate the Libe[?llate GUTTER]<br />
Robert Clarke was master and Comander and part owner of the ship the ''warewell''<br />
Libellate, and soe Comonly accounted, which hee knew of for<br />
that hee for all the time arlate belonged unto her: and further<br />
cannot depose./.
To the second hee saith that on the second day of August [?16XX GUTTER]<br />
the said ship the ''Warewell'' arived herein the River of Thames<br />
with her Lading of Coales. (which did belong unto the said Clarke and Company<br />
and came to an Anchor therewith a little belowe Wapping<br />
Dock, and there moored, in a good, and Convenient B[?erth GUTTER]<br />
where ships usually ride at Anchor, and there she moor[?ed GUTTER]<br />
one fflood, and two Ebbs, for and during all which space there<br />
was noe Appearance of any Anchor, or buoy, neereunto<br />
the place where the said ship ''Warewell'' soe lay at Anchor<br />
and moored as aforesaid. which hee knoweth for that hee<br />
this Deponent then belonged to her, and was one of her<br />
Company, and tooke [XXXX] of the Premisses and further<br />
cannot depose./:
To the 3d and 4th hee saith that after the said ship ''Warewell'' had l[?aine GUTTER]<br />
mooreed in the place aforesaid for the space of a fflood and<br />
two Ebbs, as aforesaid shee happened to be bilged upon and Anchored<br />
which lay within the said ships berth not having any buoy<br />
fastened thereunto. and shee received about foure foot water<br />
in hold, before the said Clarke or this deponent or any of the said<br />
ships Company discovered the same, and soe soone as the<br />
same was Discovered, the said Clarke did imediately<br />
cause her Pumpes to be plyed, and got and procured divers<br />
Marriners and Labourers, and Besides his Owne to assist therein, and in the<br />
haling of her to the shore, and the said Mariners and Labourers, soe procured<br />
by the said Clarke, and the Marriners belonging to the said ship did<br />
(with as much Speed as Could be) hald her to shore, and the said<br />
Clarke for the better securing of the said ship, did cause the<br />
said Mariners belonging to the said ship, and alsoe others<br />
who hee provided Imedeately to fall to worke in heaving out<br />
her Cole out of her Portholes, into Lighters and did [?heave GUTTER]<br />
out of her Portholes about one hundred Chaldron, of<br />
Coles which did much ease and lighten the said ship And there [?by GUTTER]<br />
did prevent further Damage, that in Probability might have<br />
