QUESTION: Is Samuel Wilson the younger the same merchant as in Samuel Wilson and Company, mentioned in an affidavit by the publique notary Frederick Ixem of London, who deposed "On the behalfe of Mr Sam:Wilson and Company touching the ''Vosse''"?
A "Samuel Wilson" and a "John Turner" were two of twenty-three petitioners in a "Humble petition of the merchants trading for Spain", dated September 20th 1655UNIQbee2f78bd03c7907-ref-0000010B-QINU
The latter Samuel Wilson's company included the London merchant John Turner, who may have been in business in Suffolk Lane, off Thames Street, in 1677.UNIQbee2f78bd03c7907-ref-0000010E-QINU

Samuell Wilson the Yonger during the monet … Samuell Wilson the Yonger during the moneths and tyme arlate in<br />
the yeares one thousand six hundred fifty fower and one thousand sixe<br />
hundred fifty five was Commonly reputed the true and lawfull Owner<br />
and Proprietor of three sixteenth parts of the arlate Shipp called<br />
the ''Saint Lucar Merchant'' and of her tackle apparrell and furniture./<br />
And further hee cannot depose
To the 2 hee saith hee that in the moneths and tyme predeposed of in the<br />
yeare 1655 the sayd shipp the ''Saint Lucar Merchant'' did sett sayle<br />
from this Port of London on the voyage in question and went to Cadiz<br />
in Spaine and thense to other ports beyond seas and soe returned back<br />
to this port of London this hee knoweth being one of the freighters of<br />
the sayd shipp/ And alsoe goeing supra Cargo for the sayd voyage./
To the third article of the sayd allegation and the Charterparty therein<br />
mentioned and now shewed unto him at the tyme of this his examination<br />
hee saith hee knoweth that the sayd Samuell Wilson the yonger did<br />
for the voyage arlate amongst others of the Owners and freighters of<br />
the sayd shipp the ''Saint Lucar Merchant'' take to freight his the sayd<br />
three sixteenth parts of the sayd shipp as by the sayd Charterparty<br />
signed and sealed by by and betweene him the sayd Samuell and<br />
this deponent and other freighters on the one part and the arlate George<br />
Margotts and others videlicet George Thomason and Richard hussey on<br />
the other part doth and may appeare, which Charter party hee this<br />
deponent knoweth to be true and sawe the same signed and sealed by<br />
the sayd Samuell Wilson the yonger and the rest of the freighters<br />
whose names are sunscribed thereto, and knoweth the subscription<br />
Hanniball Allen at the bottom thereof and the seale under the sayd name<br />
affixed to be his this deponents owne hand and seale And further to<br />
this article hee cannot depose/
To the 4th hee saith hee this deponent goeing Supracargo of the sayd<br />
Shipp for the voyage in question and keeping an Account of the same<br />
thereby knoweth that the sayd Samuell Wilson the yonger was indebted<br />
to the sayd Margetto and others the Owners of the sayd shipp the<br />
summe of one hundred sixty eight pounds and some odd shillings (the<br />
number whereof hee at present remembreth not) for his the sayd<br />
Samuell Wilson the yonger his sayd freight of the sayd three sixteenth<br />
parts of the sayd shipp by him taken in her the sayd voyage And<br />
further hee cannot depose/
To the last hee saith his foregoeing deposition is true
