To the first and second articles of the sa … To the first and second articles of the sayd allegation hee saith that hee this<br />
deponent is an Agent or Broaker betweene Merchant and Merchant upon the Exchange<br />
London, and by that meanes was in the moneth of September arlate and upon or about<br />
the fowerth day of the same imployed by the arlate Maurice Thompson who<br />
was then the Owner and in peaceable possession of a certayne parcell of pepper<br />
not long before brought from the Indies and consigned to the said Maurice<br />
to sell the same and by order from the sayd Maurice did upon or about the sayd fowerth day of September sell part of the sayd pepper<br />
(videlicet forty baggs thereof amounting to the summe (as hee remembreth) of five hundred seaventy<br />
odd pounds sterling the particuler summe hee doth not at present more certainly<br />
remember, but for more certaynty referreth him selfe unto the bill of parcells<br />
touching the sale thereof, unto the arlate Giles<br />
Vanderpost, upon condition that hee should pay ready money for the same at<br />
or upon the deliver thereof, And that hee was ordered by the sayd Thompson<br />
to sell the same for ready money and not otherwise, And further to those<br />
articles hee cannot depose./
To the 3 article hee saith saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot depose<br />
knowing nothing touching the carrying the sayd forty baggs of pepper out of<br />
the warehouses of the sayd Thompson nor touching their delivery aboard the<br />
shipp ''Reformation''./
To the 4th hee saith hee cannot depose./
To the 5th hee saith hee referreth him selfe to the Registry of this Court<br />
and further cannot depose./
To the 6th hee saith hee referreth him selfe to the Civill lawes of this<br />
Nation and further hee cannot depose./
To the last hee saith his foregoeing deposition is true and further hee<br />
cannot depose./
