from the Brazeele and bound alsoe for Lisb … from the Brazeele and bound alsoe for Lisbone thereby knoweth that<br />
the sayd shipp ''nostro Seniora Rosario Saint Gonsaluo'' and her ladeing<br />
were in her course for Lisbon and not many leagues distant<br />
thence upon the fifth of November last surprized (as alsoe was<br />
this deponent and his shipp the ''nostra Seniora da Remedios'') by a squadron of shopps<br />
whose Commander and mariners gave out them selves to bee<br />
dutch men and Subiects of the States of the United Provinces<br />
And saith hee this deponent upon the seizure of his shipp the<br />
''Nostra Seniora da Remedios'' was kept a prisoner aboard the dutch shipp and carried<br />
to Amsterdam in holland., but afterwards heard at Amsterdam that his this<br />
deponents shipp ''Nostra Seniora da Remedios'' was by the dutch Mariners put aboard<br />
her carried to Plymouth where it remayneth under imbargo and that the ''Nostra Seniora da Rosario''<br />
''Saint Gonsaluo'' was by dutch Mariners of the sayd Squadron put aboard<br />
her carried to dartmouth where as hee hath heard shee remayneth<br />
under arrest or imbargo<br />
as belonging to the sayd Martines a Portu=<br />
gese and her ladeing to the Brazeele Company subiects of the<br />
King of Portugall And further hee cannot depose./

sworne and examined saith and deposeth as followeth videlicet
To the first second and third articles of the sayd allegation hee saith that hee this deponent<br />
was at ffarnambuco in the yeare one thousand six hundred fifty five<br />
at the same tyme the shipp ''Nostra Seniora da Rosario Saint Gonsalvo''<br />
was built there and saw her in building and sawe her launched and<br />
knoweth the arlate John Martines Cascaes and that shee was<br />
builded by his order and direction and for his Account hee being<br />
the true Owner and proprietor of her, her tacke and furniture<br />
and for such commonly from the first building of her to this<br />
present And saith hee being alsoe at ffarnambuco in the yeare<br />
1657 as a Mariner in a Shipp called the ''Nostra Seniora da Co[?u?c]eisao''<br />
and coming thence in Company of the ''Nostra Seniora Rosario Saint''<br />
