Transcription and thereby knoweth that there is allwaiesand thereby knoweth that there is allwaies in all voyages an allowance to<br /> the Masters and Companyes of shipps by the names of Primage and Average<br /> in some voyages more and some lesse according to the custome of the severall<br /> places to and from whence the voyages are made, and according to the quality<br /> receaved as Master, and knowne other Masters receave for goods<br /> transported from fflanders and severall parts of ffrance to parts both<br /> within and without the Streights a Ryall for primage and Average<br /> upon every duckett freight And that such allowance have bin allwaies<br /> made to Masters and Mariners and alsoe to Marchants and such as use sea<br /> affayeres And further to this article hee cannot depose/ To the 2 and third articles of the sayd allegation hee saith that hee<br /> this deponent did goe a voyage from Lisbon to the Brazeele at the<br /> same tyme as the ''Peter'' (whereof the producent dobbins went Master<br /> did goe thither And knoweth that in his this deponents Charterparty for<br /> that voyage there was expressed a certayne summe for freight and<br /> and other different summe or allowance videlicet fiftie Rees upon a<br /> Roove for Average, Which Average this deponent did receave<br /> as master, and as belonging to this deponent and Company, And<br /> this deponent allwaies understood and doth understand that the<br /> sayd Average did and doth properly belong to the Master and Mariners<br /> and not to the Owners of the shipp, And saith there was<br /> noe other allowance to this deponent and Company for the sayd voyage<br /> but the sayd Average and their wages, And hee saith in voyages to the<br /> Brazeele there is great danger in respect of the heate of the Country<br /> not agreeing with English mens bodyes, and alsoe great<br /> danger in respect of the hostility betwixt the hollanders and<br /> Portugueses, And for the reasons aforesayd hee beleeveth that<br /> the Average aforesayd is allowed to Masters and Mariners as<br /> an encouragement to undergoe those difficulties And further<br /> to these articles hee cannot depose./ To the 4th hee cannot depose./ To the 5th hee saith hee knoweth all the Captaines arlate and<br /> that they did goe a voyage from Lisbone to Brazeele but upon<br /> what conditions hee knoweth not for that hee sawe not their charter=<br /> parties, but beleeveth they had Average allowed them And further<br /> to this article hee cannot depose./ To the 6th article of the sayd allegation hee saith hee haveing a long<br /> tyme gone Master of shipps knoweth that it is usuall and ordinary in<br /> all Charterparties for other voyages than the Brazeele to have beside<br /> the freight a summe expressed apart for primage and Average, which<br /> Primage and Average doth usually belong to the Masters and Companyes<br /> ofo the Masters and Companyes<br /> of  +
